"Had the most amazing massage with Teheran Height. He literally massages you from head to toe. The atmosphere is very relaxing and inviting. I would recommend anyone in any stage of life to experience his work first hand. I've been to others that left me sore and turned me off from massages but Teheran had reopened my eyes and leaves me feeling completely relaxed."

"Simply Amazing!!!! She is one special woman, inside and out. Very professional, experienced and so easy to talk to. Came in with horrible back pain, and after I feel great. Very comfortable setting also. I felt like I was at home right when I walked in. I have now gained an amazing kind hearted friend in my life that seriously knows how to take the pain away. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!! Have already recommended her to two friends and it hasn't even been an hour since I've left. Thank you so much! "

"Dr. Andino is truly EXCEPTIONAL! I've had many massages in the past, but none compares (or even comes close)! At Tired Soles, you not only get the BEST massage (full body & foot) in Atlanta; but you get it from a Doctor of Chiropractic or one of his certified Massage Therapists in a very tranquil and relaxing setting for a very affordable price. After my first visit to Tired Soles, I was "hooked." I've purchased one of their very inexpensive membership packages; and look forward to my weekly visits. I recommend Tired Soles to every and anyBODY!!! Clare G."

"Karen is an exceptional Massage Therapist that provides professional, expert, and unique techniques for improved physical activity. As an athlete herself, she is acutely aware of the issues that plaque individuals that combine work routines with daily workout routines. I personally suffer back and neck issues from my repetitive activities. Karen has been able to devise personalized therapy for me that relaxes my muscles thus allowing me to work and workout with much less pain. I highly recommend Karen. On top of being the best massage therapist, she is a genuinely nice person!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
