Introduction: I have many years of experience in the field. I'm good at both math and verbal sections of these tests. I use practice on test questions as a way to get students used to what they'll face and also in conjunction with review in math.
I really enjoy working with students one-on-one, being able to focus on what one person needs. It's great when someone grasps something that seemed mysterious, and when students' confidence grows.

We were very pleased with the results of tutoring sessions with
Mr. Oates on the SAT. My daughter increased her math score by over 100 points. Her writing and verbal scores increased by 100+ and by 60 points respectively. Where his tutoring was most profitable was in the reading comprehension, the area where she struggles. He became aware of that need and worked with her on how to cover material more quickly and efficiently, what to look for as she read, and also to build confidence in an area where she lacked it.
Also important to us, he was willing to work with the crazy schedule of a busy, high school athlete and was flexible when we needed to choose different days and times.

As a legally blind individual, I had a particular set of challenges to overcome in preparing to take the GRE. David was sensitive to my study challenges, and approached our tutoring sessions with a flexible and collaborative spirit. I have been meeting with him for a while now and it has definitely shown in my scores. Standardized testing was never one of my strong points, but after sessions with him, my SAT score went from a 1560 to an 1820!!! He really knows how to work with people of different learning styles. His one on one sessions are much more helpful than any other SAT prep class I have ever taken. I would strongly recommend him!!

My son worked with David to prepare for his PSAT and David helped him a great deal with strategies and understanding the potential content of the test. His scores went up from good to near perfect, and he enjoyed the sessions.
