When I came to Dave Lockwood for guitar lessons, I was struggling in kind of a self-taught rut. I could play chords for a lot of songs, but I didn't know the theory or anything you would call "advanced". Dave's methods show you how to understand the fretboard and why certain notes and chords go together. He is really helping me become a complete player. Mostly though, Dave is a very patient teacher. He doesn't mind going over the same material with you until you understand it and he'll take different approaches until you get it. I really appreciate this about his teaching methods.

We were able to experience Dave as a teacher for both my teenage daughter who came to him with several years of acoustic guitar study under her belt, and my son who was younger and new to electric guitar. In each case Dave was a most capable teacher who expanded their understanding of theory and the fretboard, while teaching them to play diverse styles well, including songs they chose and wanted to learn. The lessons were really enjoyable. I highly and unreservedly recommend Dave Lockwood as a patient teacher for students of all ages. He's great!

We have yet to start guitar lessons with Mr. Lockwood but so far he has been a dream to do business with! He has been prompt with responding to questions and he has been incredibly accommodating!

At age 44, I've had a lot of coaches and teachers in my life and I rank Keith right up there at the top. Keith starts with a free introductory lesson for a reason - because he is not going to sit around and teach you how to play your favorite songs - he is going to teach you how to play the instrument and music theory from the ground up. If you are serious about wanting to learn to play the guitar and willing to put in the hours and practice - I can't recommend Keith highly enough.

My experience with Cordell Music has been great. He's always easy to contact, fast to respond, and flexible with my schedule. He's a very knowledgable musician, and a great teacher. I started out with basic rhythm guitar, and now I'm learning to read staff notation. Keith has been great at explaining the music theory as we go, and I've learned more than I originally anticipated. It's been a fun journey. Highly recommended!

Paige is fantastic! She responds to messages quickly, she is very professional and such a great teacher. She didn’t interrupt me playing a part of music when I made mistakes, she let me try to figure it out myself and when I didn’t, she’d point it out. She’s very encouraging and patient, I would definitely recommend her to my friends if they played violin. I am new to violin, and with her I feel like I can really learn this instrument.

Taking violin lessons (and now viola) with Paige. It's been a much better experience for me than my first time trying to learn violin. I appreciate that she's willing to adapt her lessons to my own goals and also select music that is actually pleasing to listen to even for an absolute beginner. As some other reviews mentioned, she's also very quick to reply to any messages.

It was my 9 year old son's first guitar lesson and he responded really well to Paige. He even commented on how "supportive" and "nice" she was. Professional and Punctual. A great find in the neighborhood.

Eric has been my 11 year old daughter's guitar teacher for several years. We can't imagine taking guitar from anyone else. He is laid back, kind, and easy to work with. He's funny and relates both to kids and adults. Eric always tries to find music my daughter enjoys and mixes her lessons up so it never gets mundane. If we need a make up, he's more than accommodating. I cannot sing his praises enough!

I am retired and have little to no experience playing a musical instrument but have always wanted to play guitar. Eric is very patient and can adapt to anyone's musical level and talent. Blues, Rock, Jazz he cuts a wide path as far as his musical knowledge and is very adept at passing that on to his students. A "Rock" solid instructor!

Excellent first lesson. As an adult learning guitar, Eric's was a more holistic approach that got right into a meaningful lesson activity directly applied to the genre of music of interest to me.

I have been taking lessons from Ryan for about 10 months now and each week I see myself growing and sharpening my skill. I took guitar lessons when I was a teenager, but I wanted to get back at it and take my talents to the next level. We restarted my training and went from the building blocks of scales to the formation of modes. Now I am almost to a point where I can play any scale and mode horizontally and vertically up the neck of the guitar. He's a brilliant instructor who finds the best method of teaching for each student. Looking forward to taking more lessons with him. We even do Skype lessons since I moved out of the Alpharetta/Johns Creek area! Happy Shredding! -Andrew Briggs

I decided I wanted to learn how to play guitar at the age of 54, and I knew I needed an experienced teacher. I heard Ryan play at a club in Roswell and he was fantastic. Then I submitted my request on thumbtack, and he was the first guitar teacher to contact me. I've been taking weekly lessons from him since August 2013 and I am very pleased with how it is going. I went from knowing nothing about the guitar to being able to play over 20 chords and two songs since we started. Ryan is an excellent teacher and has also become a friend. He is a great guy and I highly recommend him if you want to take guitar lessons.

I've been taking bass lessons from Jim Coley close to three years now and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. I came into it knowing absolutely nothing about bass with the exception of knowing I wanted to play. I didn't even know the note names of each open string! I'm still learning and have much to learn but I couldn't have picked a better teacher. He's patient, supportive, encourging and experienced. I came in aiming to be as well rounded as I could be and he has covered so much ground with me in a diverse curriculum spanning every genere possible. He is also more than willing to teach you songs by your favorite bands or artists. He goes above and beyond every time and has been flexible with me at every turn. Its more than worth your time and is one of the most valuable insvestments I have made since moving here. I strongly implore anyone with the desire to learn to take some cash and spend a few minutes with him and see how it goes. You'll be glad you did!

I've been taking guitar lessons from Jim Coley for a couple of years now. I was self taught on "cowboy chords" and decided in my mid 40's I wanted to learn different styles, be able to read tabs and learn more about the structure of sheet music. Jim's teaching style has made this challenge a fun and enjoyable learning experience. The selection of music and lessons he works with me on has tremendous range and style from Classic Rock, Latin, Funk, Jazz, Blues and more. I would highly recommend some sessions with Jim. It has been and continues to be a great experience.

Jim is a great guitar teacher He caters to exactly what you want to learn, he is well equipped to write musical arrangements in tab and official notation so you have both to learn from I teach guitar at a music school and I still study with Jim because he keeps challenging me so our lessons help me be a better teacher all around !!

When my grandson expressed an interest in playing the guitar, I began my search for guitar lessons. In my search, I found the Childbloom Guitar Program North East Georgia. During my first conversation with Mr. Derwyn Browne, the Director and teacher of the Childbloom Guitar Program, I had a great feeling that this was the beginning of something big for my grandson and I was right. The Childbloom style of teaching a student to play the guitar is an amazing program. Mr. Browne is a very patient and kind teacher and he displays his great love for music to his students. He does a great job of teaching the children how to play the guitar, while instilling in them the importance of learning proper technique in their fingering and playing. My grandson has been taking lessons in the Childbloom Guitar Program for 3 years and his skill level has definitely increased during that time period. He is being taught how to read music along with music theory and is becoming a wonderful guitar player. I have no regrets in enrolling my grandson in this guitar program and he is having a great learning experience, while growing his skills and mastering the guitar.

My daughter has been taking lessons from Mr. Browne for 2 years. I can attest that Mr. Browne is truly passionate about the children learning the correct development/technique for learning to play the guitar. He is truly patient with the children. With children, like my daughter, who don't practice as they should, he uses techniques of encouragement and examples of what they could become. Far different from my days of music lessons where lack of practice meant levels of disappointment from the teacher. Childbloom uses a method of basic technique to expand the child's appreciation of music and builds upon the foundation to grow each child musically. The price for such an experience is well worth it.

I have been impressed with Childbloom guitar since our very first introductory class. The philosophy is what hooked me originally - learning in a group environment, a focus on healthy ergonomics and including the family in the learning process. However, as the classes began it was Mr. Browne's unending support and enthusiasm for teaching music that now has my six year old daughter playing and loving guitar!

I've been working with Derek now for a few years and I have learned so much and have expanded my guitar playing more than I could ever imagine. He encouraged me to truly be a part of the music and song. At first I was afraid of making mistakes and he taught me that keeping the integrity of the song is more important than focusing on the mechanics of playing. I can't imagine taking guitar lessons from anyone else!! He is a very encouraging teacher and has an incredible amount of experience in the music industry. If you're interested in taking music lessons, I highly recommend contacting Derek Ferwerda!!

Derek is a number #1 when it comes to the music world. If you need instrument lessons from bass, guitar, drums - he’s the guy that’ll get you to where you want to be. You’ll learn from the ear and he’ll show you the way. I learned from hearing a song and playing it. After awhile I could hear what I was supposed to play. Derek has a great heart and will make you feel welcomed into a group of students & friends that’ll show you what they’ve learned and even jam together. Derek is a long time friend and mentor. I’d never need to go anywhere else to learn.

Derek knows his students and tailors his lessons accordingly. He's not just a guitar instructor; he's more like a music life coach helping with technique, new habits, songwriting tips and band arrangement. It's a very open and laid back environment and you don't even realize what you are learning while it's happening. Very intuitive approach. I highly recommend a visit.

Lewis has been giving Sam private guitar lessons for several weeks now. We could not be happier with Sam's first experience with an instrument. Lewis has been patient, kind and very skilled at teaching our 7 year old. Sam is so enthusiastic about his lessons he can't wait for Lewis to walk in the door. Lewis was definitely the best choice as an instructor for Sam and we can't wait to watch him grow as a student and learn all that Lewis is excited about teaching him! We are so blessed to have found him! What better praise for a teacher than an enthusiastic happy 7 year old! Vickie Price

Our daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Gene Hilbert for about a year now. She is not only playing the guitar, she is playing complicated melodies! She has learned and continues to learn classics, rock n' roll, country, rhythm & blues. He gives her the kind of music training that keeps her wanting to learn more and enjoys practicing. He is brilliant in our opinion and works great with kids. We also know several children whom are being taught by Gene and they love their guitar lessons and music training too!!

Gene has been teaching guitar lessons to my son for five years now. He is always on time, and often stays longer than our scheduled lesson time if my son needs additional help from him. He is extremely knowledgable about every aspect of the guitar and theory. He teaches every genre, improvisation, and songwriting. I would recommend Gene Hilbert to anyone who wants to learn to play the guitar!

Gene is a fantastic guitar teacher. I have taken a few years of lessons from him for both electric guitar and bass guitar. He really knows his stuff. Not only will he teach you songs, but the theory necessary to truly be a guitarist. It really helps to understand what I'm playing and not just memorizing a song. Great teacher.

About

I am a professional performer and instructor. I specialize on the guitar. I play all styles of music and also have solo guitar stuff prepared. I would have to say my solo guitar material is a mix between Chet Atkins, Barney Kessel, and Andres Segovia.
