Nikki’s cooking was the talk of a cocktail party that I recently hosted! I absolutely loved working with Nikki - she suggested a menu perfectly tailored to the occasion and was so professional and helpful throughout the event. Thank you, Nikki!

I organized a team-building cooking class for my coworkers and I and we were extremely lucky to get paired with Sabrina! I was very impressed as she put two complete menus together for us beforehand. Both options were within our price conscious budget and she also tweaked the menus to our liking! On the day of the event, Sabrina was fun and engaging as we cooked our four course meal! She did a wonderful job keeping up with my group and making sure all our food turned out delicious while still giving us the freedom to cook everything. After we ate, she prepared some of the food for us to take home and had printed out the recipes for what we cooked so everyone had a copy! My coworkers and I still talk about our wonderful experience to this day. Overall 5/5 starts, thanks again Sabrina!

David catered a dinner and brunch at our home. He was very easy to work with and created menus to suit our needs for both events. I had never used a caterer before and he made the process so simple--Heather and Jessica came early to help set up our dinner event and make sure that everything was placed appropriately to keep the flow for our function. They got everything situated and David made sure the food was hot and ready to go when our guests started arriving. Everything was delicious--highly recommend the crabcakes and coconut shrimp, two of my favorite appetizers; also the bread was unbelievable. Our guests enjoyed the entrees-we chose a outdoor grilling station with steak served to order as well as chicken and shrimp options. Everyone commented on the food - and of course the desserts as well (the key lime pie was amazing!!). The brunch also worked out very well despite the pouring rain outside--before our guests arrived, Heather and Brian helped me figure out how to keep everyone inside and make room for the omelette station outside, but in a location where everything would stay dry and it was accessible to our guests. Again-the set up was quick and easy, and the food was terrific. We had french toast, bagels, lox, salads and of course the omelettes. Our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the brunch and especially the french toast. Again, clean up was very quick and easy--everything boxed and wrapped to go into the fridge. During both events, David checked in with us to make sure things were going smoothly and see if there was anything else that was needed. Clean up was a breeze-everything was boxed and put in the fridge, any pots or pans or other items used were all washed and dried, ready to be put away. It was really wonderful working with David; I got to socialize and talk to my family and friends, and was reassured by David, Heather, Jessica, and Brian checking in and asking how I wanted certain things done if there was a question they had. I will look forward to working with David again soon!

Ms. Roberts was very thorough and quick with the cleaning. Great personality and really knows what she's doing. My apartment looked amazing when she was done with it. Pleasant to talk to and also has one of the best cleaning service prices out there. Definitely will be giving her a call back when the house gets dirty again. Lol. P.s. And she is a great personal chef for all you out there that don't like to cook much.

We hired Kelsey for a private cooking class for 4 people. Kelsey was a pleasure to work with and arrived right on time. She gave us a plethora of options to choose from and the meal we made as fantastic. We all learned a few new cooking tricks that made the experience even better. She also took over when we were talking and having fun, making the whole night a great experience. At the end of the night, she left the kitchen spotless and provided recipe cards for all us. I would love to do a cooking class with her again.

I meet Giulia through a tutoring website. And for about 6 months I learn basic Italian grammar. The then offered cooking classes where I signed up for. Taking my mother and my self to Giulia's home cooking sea food risotto. It took about 30-45 minutes to cook the meal and the pricing was great :). I 100% enjoy Giulia as my teacher for many skills.

I wanted to give my teenaged grand daughter cooking lessons for Christmas. She enjoys cooking and wants to eat healthy, but I live in another state and her mother is admittedly no help in the kitchen. I googled cooking lessons in the Atlanta area and found Chef Sonya. My grand daughter just had her first session with her and was completely thrilled with the experience, saying this was her favorite Christmas present! Chef Sonya came to her house and worked with her in her own kitchen and, I'm told, the food they prepared together was the best food they had ever eaten! She is excited to work with her again next week. From my initial contact to her coming to the house, every step of the way has been very professional. Most importantly, Chef Sonya is a warm and trustworthy person who made the experience wonderful for my shy grand daughter and the entire family was very impressed with her. I would recommend her services to anyone.

Wow! This woman can cook! I cannot wait to take another one of her classes. I always thought that some of these dishes would be very complicated but Wanda really made it look easy. I have recently impressed friends by making "Fish Meuniere" - they couldn't get enough of it! I cannot say enough good things.

Evelyn conducted a cooking class for a group of 6 women in my home and she did a fabulous job! Her personality and style were a great fit for our group and we had a wonderful time. Evelyn shared various knife skills with us, taught us how to cook a wonderful meal, and educated us on wine pairings for the appetizer and main course. Highly recommend her as caterer or personal chef. We'll be hiring her again soon!

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Chef Toni. I recently travelled to Georgia (by way of the West Coast) to visit some girlfriends. As a special treat to ourselves, we decided to have Chef Toni come and cook us dinner. We were referred to her by a friend who she had just taught a cooking class to the week before, and boy are we glad we were! Let me just say that Toni’s warmth and talent are truly unmatched. We had asked for a chicken dish as a main course, and were open to her suggestion. Upon further discussion, Toni created a wonderful three course menu for us. The main course being Chicken Francese! Toni proposed a fresh Caprese salad to start, which was followed by our main dish, the Chicken Francese! This lemony dish was served over a bed of quinoa and brown rice, and let’s just say ... I licked my plate clean. To finish, was a Georgia staple .. Peach Pie!! I love that she tied in a southern element to the menu (as I’m not as lucky to have such delicious peaches over in California)! I wish I had gotten a photo of the pie, but admittedly, we started digging right in the second the pie was cooled 😳. From start to finish, we were not only salivating over the sensational smells that we’re coming from the kitchen, but smiling from ear to ear at Toni’s humor, heart, and most of all her undeniable talent. My only regret is that I don’t live closer so I could have the treat that is Chef Toni all the time!! However, I can now look forward to our new tradition, dinner by Chef Toni. I’m already planning my next trip back!!

Michael came to have a talk with me a week before our cooking class to get a feel for what I was expecting. Once this was determined, he returned the next week and in no time showed me how to prepare fish and chicken in five different ways, explaining the preparation as he worked. He answered all of my questions and gave me ideas on how to use other spices for a different flavor for the meats. He suggested side dishes for each meal. He used only the spices and oils that I had in my pantry and even helped to clean up when the class was over. I am planning on having him back several more times for other cooking demonstrations. I highly recommend him.

I had so much fun learning to cook with chef Isaac. He created a relaxed and fun atmosphere to learn in. Chef Isaac is very knowledgeable about ingredients and special diets. He showed us techniques to create healthy and delicious vegan food easily. He introduced us to ingredients that were new to me and now I use them all the time. The class I attended included not only vegans & vegetarians but also meat eaters interested in adding new and healthy meals to their diets. Even picky eaters were left happy! I plan to attend another one of Chef Isaac's cooking classes at a later date. It's a great night out. You will not be disappointed!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
