When I came to Dave Lockwood for guitar lessons, I was struggling in kind of a self-taught rut. I could play chords for a lot of songs, but I didn't know the theory or anything you would call "advanced". Dave's methods show you how to understand the fretboard and why certain notes and chords go together. He is really helping me become a complete player. Mostly though, Dave is a very patient teacher. He doesn't mind going over the same material with you until you understand it and he'll take different approaches until you get it. I really appreciate this about his teaching methods.
It was my 9 year old son's first guitar lesson and he responded really well to Paige. He even commented on how "supportive" and "nice" she was. Professional and Punctual. A great find in the neighborhood.
I have really enjoyed taking lessons at Cordell Music so far. He has a good syllabus and the lessons build on one another in an understandable way.
I am retired and have little to no experience playing a musical instrument but have always wanted to play guitar. Eric is very patient and can adapt to anyone's musical level and talent. Blues, Rock, Jazz he cuts a wide path as far as his musical knowledge and is very adept at passing that on to his students. A "Rock" solid instructor!
Our son began lessons with Ryan 5 years ago, after becoming bored and stagnant with his previous teacher of 2 years. With a child that was very talented and serious at pursuing a possible music career,we really wanted to make sure he had the best teacher for him that pushed him and challenged him but at the same time did it in a way that would encourage him, not discourage him.Because our son was easily bored,we also needed a teacher that could teach many different styles or genres, knew theory and could teach sight reading and was able to move at whatever pace was needed to challenge our son.Ryan worked on rock, blues jazz and classical guitar, sight reading ear training, song writing skills, improvisation only to name a few,but above all taught him to work hard and never give up.He helped him prepare for a very challenging audition to get into a very competitive music college, Belmont University. Ryan made sure that when the audition came up, our son was ever so confident when his audition time came up and was totally prepared in every possible way.Through the years, our son developed a strong sense of trust and friendship that he has been able to use as he is in college as a sophomore. While in college, our son will periodically still rely on Ryan for his professional views on different challenges. He also looks forward to breaks and summers to get together with Ryan and play, learn and get advice. It was never about Ryan making his fee,but about making sure our son was pushed during every lesson to the best of his abilities.Even if it meant staying over a few minutes or calling during the week to check and make sure he was able to work at the music homework he had given and was not frustrated. We highly recommend Ryan Strickland. He is a very professional dedicated musician that loves his job and will go over and beyond for all of his students. We feel as parents that Ryan pushed our son to help him fulfill his utmost dreams and passion and realize there are no limits.
Chris is very patient, and knows his stuff. He has great insight into beginning guitar and can really help anyone that is looking to learn develop good habits and pick up the basics quickly. He has a very pleasant and friendly demeanor and is always very supportive even when you are slow to pick up on a technique. As a very basic beginner, Chris has accelerated my learning curve significantly. His simplified approach to teaching me guitar has led me to really want to learn and given me the confidence to believe I can. No book required, Chris uses the music you like and teaches you to play the songs you really want to jam. No Mary Had a Little Lamb here. Thanks Chris!!!
I have taken guitar lessons before, but I wasn't learning or moving forward at the pace I wanted. He played guitar the whole time and seemed detached, annoyed and uninterested in helping me. He really didn't seem passionate about his lessons/teaching methods and what I learned over time. So I finally decided to try again and I took guitar lessons from Cam about a year ago and it's been the most rewarding experience.
Dr. David was a great teacher, even when I wasn't advanced enough to see it. He was very Socratic in method, giving me the information I needed, then leading me to my own conclusions. I emerged both a very unique guitar player and an accurate critic of classical guitar playing in numerous genres. Beyond technical matters, David works with the student's ear, etiquette, sensibility to era and composer, and compositional interests. I would recommend any serious student to Dr. David Mitchell and hope I have another chance to study under him one day.
very patient, professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.
When my grandson expressed an interest in playing the guitar, I began my search for guitar lessons. In my search, I found the Childbloom Guitar Program North East Georgia. During my first conversation with Mr. Derwyn Browne, the Director and teacher of the Childbloom Guitar Program, I had a great feeling that this was the beginning of something big for my grandson and I was right. The Childbloom style of teaching a student to play the guitar is an amazing program. Mr. Browne is a very patient and kind teacher and he displays his great love for music to his students. He does a great job of teaching the children how to play the guitar, while instilling in them the importance of learning proper technique in their fingering and playing. My grandson has been taking lessons in the Childbloom Guitar Program for 3 years and his skill level has definitely increased during that time period. He is being taught how to read music along with music theory and is becoming a wonderful guitar player. I have no regrets in enrolling my grandson in this guitar program and he is having a great learning experience, while growing his skills and mastering the guitar.
Trey has been patient and persistent, but never pushy, in his follow-ups to have my first guitar lesson. It is something I have truly appreciated. I'm really thankful to start playing guitar after a 25-year hiatus. I'm grateful to have such a talented musician and guitarist in my corner to help me become better.
Barry was my first and only guitar teacher! I started when I was 14 and I stayed with him until I was 17. ( I should've never quit, but he keeps up with me to this day). He is an awesome teacher and very patient and laid back. I loved my guitar sessions and learning not only the basics of guitar but playing music I loved. I definitely recommend him as a teacher.
I have been a professional musician for 51 years and have done numerous engagements, both in the performance and recording areas of this business. I can tailor my method of teaching to the students' expectations or give them a combination that meets their needs, along with reasonable explanations about theory. Ultimately, if the student is a beginner, intermediate, or an advanced player, I am sure that they will be happy with the results.

I am not just trying to get a paycheck. I have a genuine interest in every student I have ever taught. I want them to progress and to grow an appreciation for the instrument. I look at each student's progress as a reflection of my ability as a teacher.
I offer guitar lessons to people of all ages! I can travel to you, or you can come to me. I am friendly, easy and offer lots of fun!
I share 55 years of experience in six-string guitars and 40 years under a steel. I prefer students who are beginners or a little higher. You will need the best comfortable guitar you can afford. I would like to know the make and model of your guitar. If you prefer an electric, bring ONLY the guitar. I have plenty of amps. I am not an exponent of one style of music; instead I teach you the basics so you can easily play any style you like. I expect you to practice 15 - 30 minutes a day, 7 days a week. Why? Well, you won't learn guitar from me: you'll learn it from YOU. Those times when you start applying what I teach you is where you start making that guitar your own. You also need regular practice to toughen the 4 fingertips of your left hand. Rate: $50 per hour or part thereof, delivered at my home 121 Hampshire Ct, Avondale Estates, 30002, Saturdays at 2pm, and only there. Let me know if these terms suit you. We'll have fun! I offer only the basics. If a teacher gives more than that, the students inherit the musical style of the teacher and never develop their own style.
