The two instructors at Thunder Kickboxing have more experience and expertise than all of the personal trainers, local gym class personnel, or strip mall karate schools I've ever been to combined. After 10 years and my countless deviations to other trainers and fighting styles they've always been there and I've always come back...and been glad I did so. Weather you're looking for general fitness, competition training, or street know how you won't be disappointed.

Cobb Martial Arts is the perfect place to take your kids to learn karate and self defense. Nory Lugo is excellent with the kids. He explains things so it's easy for them to understand and he is very patient. All the kids love him. My son has been taking classes here for almost 1 year and we couldn't have found a better place. He has learned so much and has so much fun.

About

Karate is not a game of points, weight classes or showy demonstrations. It is a martial art and a way of life that trains a practitioner to be peaceful; but if conflict is unavoidable, true karate dictates taking down an opponent with a single blow. Such an action requires strength, speed, focus and control. But these physical aspects are only part of the practice; they are just the vehicle, not the journey itself. True karate is based on Bushido. In true karate, the body, mind and spirit, the whole person must be developed simultaneously. The word yoga means "union" in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India where yoga originated. Think of union occurring between the mind, body and spirit or a way of life, an integrated system of education for the body mind, and spirit. This art of right living was perfected and practiced thousands of years ago but, since yoga deals with universal truths, its teachings are as valid today as they were in ancient times. Yoga is a practical aid; not a religion. Yoga is union with all. What is commonly referred to as "yoga" can be more accurately described by the Sanskrit word "asana" which refers to the practice of physical postures or poses. Many people think that yoga is just stretching. But while stretching is involved, yoga is about creating balance in the body by developing strength and flexibility.

I will travel to your location for private karate/self-defense lessons. We can tailor the classes for your needs. This is great for groups, children and families. I am a seventh-degree black belter and former national instructor of the year. I have taught thousands of students, including partnering with four public schools in teaching and promoting anti-bullying. Benefits gained by martial arts are leadership skills, confidence, respect, perseverance and commitment. I have trained nationally known karate teams and can coach for competition. I have just relocated to the Forsyth County area in Georgia, and I will work within 30 minutes. I formerly owned Yama Bushi Karate/Premier Martial arts of Blairsville which was named the Best of Atlanta Martial Arts Studio in 2013.

All classes are taught with age appropriate techniques. Generally, kids age 4 and older are very successful in developing the Future Black Belt Behavior (Respect, Focus, Self-discipline) which is taught in every class. Adult classes are taught separate from the kids, so parents can also train.
