Statewide Roofing did a great job on our roof leak. Alex was able to find and fix the problem very quickly. One reason I chose them over other roofers was because they did a really good job investigating the leak and put together a plan to prevent the problem from happening again. The quote was 100% accurate and Alex let me know exactly when he would arrive. They were thorough and punctual. Will recommend to neighbors and friends.

David was professional during the entire process - from arriving exactly when he said he would during the estimating, with his follow-up to questions and, finally, with the actual roofing itself. The job was completed on time and the clean-up (always an issue with some roofing crews) was done well too. I can recommend David to anyone as a professional roofer who delivers value-for-money.

I really appreciated the knowledge and communication he gave me. He explained to me exactly what my roofs' problem was. He also gave a fair price while other roofers hiked their prices up. They were able to get the job done in the time down that I needed it!!! I would definitely hire them again!

In a tight spot due to Homeowner's Insurance cancellation, my Wife and I had to find a new roof promptly and efficiently. The first few offers from Thumbtack were not great. One company emailed me a quote without even coming to assess the property. From Wednesday-Tuesday I visited with 5 other roofers. Ray, with the Art of Home Improvement, was working another job and was unable to come out until Tuesday. I had all but accepted the fate of a $12k roof job. I was defeated, disappointed and had a new baby at home. Insurance cancellation FORCING us to buy a new roof wqs not something I was even remotely happy about. Tuesday afternoon, Ray Beaty comes over. He has a pamphlet, similar to the other companies. He has sample shingles. He also has a REAL PERSONALITY. He quoted me a price $4k under the competitors. He set the date. His team showed up on time, finished the job in one day and left no trace of their work. Ray is someone I highly recommend. He has been professional, warm and friendly, by far the most cost effective and his work speaks for itself. Thanks for the excellent work Ray. The Art of Home Improvement provided excellent, quality work in a day and age where honesty, hard work and thorough results are hard to find. Keep it up!

I felt confident he would do and he did do all needed to keep my home safe with Quality work on roof and gutters. His pricing was fair and everything was explained on his estimate! If you want to save yourself time from interviewing roofers who scribble an estimate on paper and want a Quality Company that has integrity and Excellent workmanship call antonio at Equality Roofing

Lee and his team were outstanding! They do a great job at a great price! He is super honest and is not going to try and up-sell you like a lot of the other roofers try to do! He is very personable as well which is great. He will follow up to make sure the project is completed to your satisfaction and provides before and after pictures as well. I would not use anyone else. 5 stars all the way.

His crew showed up when they said they would and didn't leave until the job was completely finished AND thoroughly cleaned up. I was so happy with my new roof that I turned around and hired him for another project as well.

We hired Nathan to handle some roof issues some of which were very complex. He was here when he said he would be, he consulted and fixed every thinig on schedule. He kept us informed. Our buyers and their home inspector were impressed with the job he and his crew did. I cannot say enough good things about him personally and the job he did. He will be our go to roofer in the future.

Elite Roofing of Georgia replaced my roof last week and it looks great. They worked with my insurance company and the cost was exactly what my insurer stated on the claim. I had estimates from 2 other Roofing companies and both charged extra for architectural shingles and roof ridge vents. The first company guaranteed their work for 5 years; the second guaranteed their work for 7 years. Elite included architectural shingles and roof vents at no extra charge. Elite also replace some damaged plywood before adding the new shingles, again at no additional charge. They guarantee their work for 10 tears. I worked with Matt throughout the process and he explained the insurance claim and gave the project cost and process. The roofers arrived on time and started work immediately. The job took 1 day. I highly recommend Elite Roofing of GA.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
