A Ucall&Ihaul crew of 4 moved materials from a truck into our house in Atlanta. They were paid by the hour and the crew worked slowly, spending a lot of time sitting, socializing, and talking on cell phones. At least one member of the crew did not appear sufficiently able bodied for this type work. Since the work had to be performed by pairs we effectively paid for four men and got the services of two. Some of the materials were heavy and we provided a hand truck and a flat dolly for them to use. When it came time to move the heaviest item the dolly had something else on it and they decided to drag the item using cardboard skids on our new hardwood floor. In the process our floor was gouged and scraped. The Ucall&Ihaul web site indicates that they have insurance, and that was a major factor in our selecting them. However, the company owner was not willing to use it to repair the damage done. When the crew arrived, the foreman presented me with a form to be signed relieving Ucall&Ihaul of responsibility for damage (there had been no mention of this when we booked and prepaid Ucall&Ihaul). We felt we had no choice at this point since the truck was waiting to be unloaded, with clock running and subject to overtime charges. When finished, the foreman pressured me to fill out and sign, in his presence, a form giving them a 5-star rating. Even then, before we discovered the damage done, it was obvious they did not deserve a 5-star rating and I said we would do the review later. Based on this inappropriate pressure I am skeptical that the high ratings given by many to this company are all genuine. The Ucall&Ihaul movers were not properly trained and exercised poor judgment. The owner of this company is unethical (the opinion of some of his employees as well, who actually used an obscenity to describe him). He offered us $100 to withdraw our complaint to the better Business Bureau and keep quiet. Ucall&Ihaul's hourly cost may seem attractive, but be cognizant of the added cost of slow and careless work. I give them 2 stars instead of 1 since the work was done albeit in an unsatisfactory manner.

James, this so called review is a complete lie and is borderline defamation of character and liable! We came to your home to unload 500 pieces of lumber and a 1000lb door into your home and instead of allowing us to take control as to the best and safest way to do this you took control of the move. As result we had you sign the move control and liability release form before we started or touched anything. We asked if we could take the door out of the crate to lighten the load and make it more manageable and you said no, causing the job to me more difficult and dangerous. You tried to tell these same lies on the Better Business Bureau and they found in my favor after further investigation and now your continuing to spread lies. Mr. Cohen please cease and desist before I begin legal proceedings against you! Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.

I would not recommend this company. I would have given 3 stars if it were not for the rude owner, Mr. Kirby, who is very rude and condescending. I hired 3 movers for 2 hours. 2 of the movers were great. The older gentlemen was very inappropriate suggesting that I flirt with the driver of a uhaul truck so that I could get help loading my couch. He also spent time criticizing me for the amount I paid on items I purchased for the moving process. I was told that my bed could only be disassembled with Ikea tools. My church member came the following day and disassembled the bed with regular tools. When I called Mr. Kirby to address this matter, he was unprofessional, talked over myself and my mother, and refused to address the situation. Moving is already a very stressful process and one would hope that hiring movers would decrease some of the stress. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Good luck to those individuals who use this company.
