He is really nice and enthusiastic, I am looking forward to learning from him. I will add more comments after my first class.

Very informative. I feel I will now be a much better bass player because of David!

About this pro

I've been teaching and playing most of my life. I'm good at breaking tasks down into simple components, so I can give students simple roadmaps to master skills which might otherwise seem complex. I like watching students grow musically over time. I like seeing the joy people get from accomplishing their musical goals. It's great to see someone do something they couldn't do before or previously thought was beyond their ability.

    Q & A

    • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find out what music they enjoy, and I try to assess what their goals are musically. I try to find projects on their level which appeal to their musical sensibilities, as well as projects which expand their musical perspective.
    • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up taking violin from symphony members in Alabama, Boston, and Cleveland. I attended the Alabama School of Fine Arts in 7th grade where I began studying theory and subsequently continued at the Nee England Conservatory of Music. I was Concertmaster of my high school orchestra. I read the various industry magazines. I constantly learn new material. I keep an open mind about trends and changes in taste and I try to fit in and stay relevant. I also seek out players who are better than I am so I can learn
    • How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been an instructor and a leader in many contexts from childhood and throughout adulthood. It was a natural evolution for me.
