Shantel is very friendly, responsive, and sweet. We are so lucky to have found her! My husband and I have tried just about every boarding and pet sitting place in midtown. Shantel is the best. We received photos every day which assured us that our cat was being cared for, and our apartment was left just as we put it. We can't say enough good things about Shantel!

I hired Francis from Oh Good Dog Professional Dog Training to acclimate my two miniature schnauzer puppies. My goal was to have two well-adjusted household members and Francis far exceeded my expectations. He was gentle with both us (the pet parents) and the dogs, gave up practical guidance on how to train them, and left us with plans for continued training now that our 6 week sessions are concluded. I cannot recommend him highly enough and plan to reengage in the fall once our puppies have become a bit more seasoned.

Kristie helped me train my Great Pyrenees and did an amazing job. I am interested in having my dog evaluated for a pet therapy program, and Kristie knew exactly what she needed. My dog is much more well-behaved and I'm hoping will be a good candidate! She even gave us nutrition advice which was very helpful!

I’ve never corresponded with someone as friendly, responsive, and positive as Mark Shaver, the owner of Buckhead Paws. He quickly quoted me a fair price for pet sitting our cats within moments of me placing a project on Thumbtack, and quickly answered all my questions in a way that made it enjoyable to communicate with him. He walked me through the process of scheduling the pet sitting appointment and was patient with my questions. We set up a meeting and Mark showed up with our actual pet sitter to be, Kim. It was nice having the owner of a company take the time to come over to meet our kitties also. Both were really nice, and asked thoughtful questions as we showed them where everything was. It made us feel we were in good hands. While we were away Kim gave us daily photos and updates of our kitties, many of them funny, which were very much appreciated. They were often the bright spot of our day. Kim picked up packages as needed and even cleared our deck for window washers. We knew he was only a text away if we needed anything. But the true test was seeing how the kitties were when we returned. They were calm and cheerful, the house clean, even the trash emptied. We are really pleased with this service and will definitely use Buckhead Paws again.

Sarah is wonderful! I was nervous to find a pet sitter because I was always lucky enough to have family in town to take care of my cat Kate. But that wasn't the case anymore and luckily I found Sarah! She was exactly on time for our first meeting to get to know her. I went over everything and she took notes and asked questions. After each visit she let me know how Kate was doing and sent me some pictures. She went out of her way when I needed her and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter. I have just relocated to a new state and will miss having Sarah to watch my sweet Kate!

Since my kennel was already booked I was looking for a place to board my cats at the last minute. I found the staff at Whiskers on Kittens very helpful. Morgan was accommodating, great to work with and did a great job. The facility was first class and my cats were very comfortable and cared for. Whiskers on Kittens is now my first choice for boarding and sitting my cats. Since I live in Johns Creek the convenience is great.

    About

I can do pretty much anything anyone would ever need. I will babysit, walk dogs, and help shop, be an assistant and a cashier, etc.

    About

I have been fervent about animals since I was a mere child, and this love for animals has grown over the years. I have had three dogs over the years. Therefore, I am able to provide the same amount of love and care for your dog as I do it for my own pets. My comprehension of the needs of pets especially those of dogs is outstanding. From feeding them food with the right nutrients to walking them, I know it all. Moreover, I possess a knowledge of vaccination schedules; therefore, I would be able to effectively manage the appointments with the vet.

With my service your pet is promised a loving and caring person that will care for the pet all day within the freedom of their own home to run and play as you never left. Proven fact have shown pets are most relaxed and less stressed out when kept at their home will owner is away. Do you pet a favor, and let someone care for them while you are away. My services include: -Walking mornings evenings, and before bedtime -Feeding routines as you prefer how you pet should be fed -Scooping of all messes that dog will make in yard -Doggy Baths (no cat baths) -Guarantee cleanliness of house contained through out my whole visitation -Endless amount of fun and care for your pet How I offer services is by consulting with client and arranging a meet and greet with the pet that I will be sitting. After a agreement for me to watch you pet has been made, I will report to your house and care for your pet while you are away. I do two types of sitting, Overnight and Daily: Overnight: I will be caring for your animal while you are away for a number of days. The price for these services are charged per night and prices could vary depending on the behavior of the pet, for example if the pet is showing signs of aggression and dominance. Any additional time after 12:00p.m., the day of my extraction, will be charged a additional night. Cats: $30 for 1 cat, and additional $3 for each additional cat Dogs:$50 for 1 dog, and additional $5 for each additional dog Horses: $100 for 1 horse, and additional $20 for additional horses (PLEASE CALL FOR PETS NOT MENTIONED BIRDS, RODDENTS,ECT.) Daily: I will report to your house the days you need me to and preform the duties of caring for your animal. My service price will be based on the number of hours. Depending on behavior of animal, for instance if the animal was showing signs of aggression and dominance, the price may vary. Cats: $3 for 1 cat, $1 for each additional cat Dogs:$5 for 1 dog, $ 3 for each additional dog Horses: $12 for 1 horse, $5 for each additional horse (PLEASE CALL FOR PETS NOT MENTIONED BIRDS, RODDENTS, ECT.) By phone is the best way to contact me.

    About

I do teach puppies and older dogs not to jump unless commanded by their owners. I do use dog treats to keep the dog's attention span. I don't spray dogs with water because that will turn them to being aggressive. I am very patient with the animals.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

    • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
    • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
      • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
      • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
      • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
    • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
      • Horse training: $20 per session.
      • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
      • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
      • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.

    What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.
