I have known Vanessa for 5-years and worked with her on numerous occasions during that period. She is a good proofreader/copy editor, and is very professional. I would highly recommend her to others in the Advertising and Communications industry.May 24, 2015
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I was educated in Engineering and Computer Science because I wanted to be sure to make "enough money." However, after about eight years in Engineering, I realized that I needed to be working in my passion, which was writing, and so I took a bold step and changed careers. I have not "struck it rich," but I'm much happier. A good writer can also edit and proofread, and so I have developed expertise in those areas as well.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Read some things they've written, and preferably published. Their published work will reflect their writing style, their professionalism and whether they can actually write and/or edit and/or proofread.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project? That many times it's very hard to estimate the time it takes to complete a job, simply because each is quite unique. Editing is so much more than just reading; original writing takes skill and creativity; and professional proofreading takes eagle-eye detail, all of which takes more time than one would think.
