David completed the room above our garage and did an awesome job. From the studs all the way to finished drywall and the hardwoods.

Dads construction has completed a number jobs around my home. Some jobs were difficult and David completed all of them where others would have not even tried. He is fare and decent and the quality of work is good. David knows what he is doing in all aspects of general construction.

We have used Dad's Construction for two "around the house" type projects. The first was for a replacement window and the second for a tree removal. In both cases, we were extremely satisfied with the results and the fair price for the services. David takes a lot of pride in his work and ensured we were happy before accepting payment. We definitely will be using them again in the future and a highly recommend for those searching for a "handy-man" for projects around the house.

Hired on Thumbtack

This was the WORST contractor I have ever hired! Talked a good game but fell REAL short of accomplishing ANYTHING that he promised. He lied to his helper. Dave told him that I fired him (Dave),not the helper and I would call police and have him arrested if he showed up at my house. Nothing further from the truth! I fired Dave ( Dad's Construction) and hired the helper to finish the job. Dave started the popcorn removal by trying to sand it off the ceiling. NOT the right way to do it!! He just wanted to rush through the job and do something else. He even refused to pay his helper for the 3 days that he worked. Dad's Construction is totally UNRELIABLE! Find yourself ANYONE else but Dad's

Let me start off by saying that I made the mistake of not doing my homework about David and his company. He came to give me a quote on a catch basin that I initially wanted to have put in because my garage was taking in water. He gave me a quote and immediately started to up sale me on his other services. In hindsight I should have looked at that as a red flag but I ignored it. Jack of all trades master of nothing. He came to install my catch basin a couple of weeks later. This is a significant point because this job started back in the latter part of November. Today is the 8th of February. On December 6th 2015 David sent me an itemized list of repairs that he would make per my request with each task priced out. All of this is documented via email. We agreed to the price and the work was to start shortly there after. Keep in mind he was already paid for the installation of the catch basin. There was an additional cost that he made me aware of prior to any work being done. I said no problem lets get it done. Besides his son, who seems to be a really nice guy I believe he subcontracts his work. He had someone come out with him and install base boards in the garage. A couple of days later they were already bowing. He stated that he was paid to install them but we would have to caulk and patch them ourselves. OK... Several times (4) to be exact...Dave was suppose to show up and work on my house. On those 4 separate occasions after I had rearranged my schedule to accommodate the work he NEVER showed up. Furthermore he didn't have enough respect for me to give a courtesy call that for whatever reason he couldn't make it. I'm a business owner myself, I should have listened to my wife and fired him then. On Christmas Eve when I should have been enjoying the holiday, I was ankle deep in muddy water in the back of my garage coincidentally where David installed the catch basin. David is very good about deflection. He has an answer as well as an excuse for everything. Its never his fault, keep this in mind. The reason for muddy water in my garage per David was there was some rotted wood in the front where water was seeping in and that my gutters were overflowing. The problem with that theory is, I've lived in my house for 15 years and at no point in time in 15 years have I ever accumulated that much water and to that degree in my garage. It just so happened that it got that bad after David installed my catch basin. On Christmas Eve, I contacted Dave along with pictures about the issue. He stated it had nothing to do with the work he performed. After several trips to Home Depot for sand bags to stop the influx of water and a couple of hours with my wet vac I just gave up. David said he would be there the following day to assess the situation. Of course that never happened. This is the domino effect with David. He commits to showing up and doesn't. Had he showed up to complete the repair on my gutters as he stated, I might not have had as much water in my garage but I doubt it because there was more work in the yard to do. David showed up a few days later and dug up my yard once again. This time he dug the trench deeper and extended the pipe. It rained several days later and much to my surprise no water in the garage this time. The job was completed correctly the second time around. I'm a very patient and diplomatic person and I understand we all make mistakes, I just feel we should own those mistakes. I informed David that no water had made it into the garage and I decided to let it go and move on. David started to repair the drywall in my kitchen. I'm going to give credit where its due. I was pleased with the work he performed in the kitchen. Besides the dust which in most instances would be miniscule but I bring it up because it has relevance to my point of his professionalism. The kitchen ceiling looks good! David installed laminate flooring in my dining room and foyer it looks pretty good. A quarter of the way into the work, David asked for an advance. I will NEVER advance another contractor money for services not rendered. David got my check and disappeared for a few days. This was truly the beginning of the end. Not only does he work on his schedule, he felt that you should be happy for him to show up because as he would say, he's helping you out and you get the impression that he feels as if he's doing you a favor. I had to remind Dave several times that all of this was a time sensitive situation because I needed to get my house up on the market. Barring bad weather because Dave agreed to paint my house on several different occasions, the repairs needed were sporadic. Every time he made a repair, something additional came up. There were additional challenges for Dave, and I was very understanding. What I refused to waiver on, was the lack of his word and his character that its his business and he's doing you a favor attitude. As David was laying down a tack strip, some how my ceramic tile was chipped in said area where David was laying the tack strip. His response is that I should have a transition there. Guess it was my fault. My alarm was disconnected and when he couldn't repair it after several attempts I had to call my alarm company to fix the problem. It was a mistake , but yet again, it had nothing to do with him even though the technician explained to me exactly what he had done. The (extras) is where he calls himself helping you out and doing you a favor and saving you money when in reality I could have saved myself some headache and time by just hiring someone else. I actually had the audacity to refer him to two of my friends which I now very much regret. He continued to ask for advances, and he continued to receive advances, he need to make payroll, he need money for other jobs. Who does this??? Again, when he didn't get an early check he wasn't showing up. Almost as if your repairs were being held hostage. Now I find myself with work that has yet to be completed. My yard looks worse now then it did before the day he showed up. Thats because of all of the debris and extra trash that he has left. He left with a kitchen window partially framed (extra) as well as the back door where he broke the alarm partially framed. There was a mound of drywall debris left in the back of my garage and all over my equipment...(no drop cloths) and paint still on the garage floor that he spilled. There is paint still on my windows because instead of taping them off he would rather paint the entire thing and then scrape after the fact. I wouldn't have a problem with it if he just completed the job. My wife and and I have spent the last 4 days cleaning up after David and all of his messes. After all of this I said, just be a man of your word and finish what you started. Unfortunately its just not in him. Materials that I paid for are probably being used on another job that he has taken with a bigger paycheck.... My overall experience with Dad's Construction, has not been a favorable one. On a scale of 1-10 David gets a solid 8/9 on drywall work that he actually completes. He left in the middle of my job and hasn't returned. Installation of the floors I'll give him a 7. More importantly than any of the work, his work ethic and customer service gets a BIG FAT ZERO He cares nothing about his clients and is only chasing the check. If anyone thinks about hiring this guy, make sure he doesn't get a dime until the work is done and completed to your satisfaction. Everything I've stated is factual and I have all of the communication and pictures to document my case when I file suit for theft by deception. He was paid and services to completion have not been rendered. His last words to me and I quote " Yeah go ahead sure to tell how much money I saved you beside not to mention anything good just all the bad so called he looked at door and wall overb ite I just messing with you little bit threats don't bother me at all" end quote...all of that was his response to should I submit my thumbtack review today. (Not sure what to make of that) Not the way you deal with customers unless your Dad's Construction I guess For me its the principle of the matter. When you say you're going to do something, its very simple to just do it. Now I'm left with additional work and unnecessary wasted time and money that I'll spend in court.
David Logan's reply
to make a long story short he ran out of money he fails to mention how much money I saved him it is very funny how people change over money if you do things for free it is all good but when you don't do things for free this is the kind of shit they say to be there that long some thing was right this is what I get for caring
