We hired them to restretch and clean our carpets. They arrived on time and were very professional. The carpets looked great after they finished. The only problem we had was the carpet in one room buckled the same day they stretched it. We called them that day and they came back that night to fix the carpet. Overall, we were very happy with their work.

We just bought a home that has a large room we are using as a photography studio, but brand new carpet had been installed by the seller and we needed an affordable, yet durable hard surface. Flooring Zone came to our home, assessed our needs, showed us samples, made recommendations and gave us an amazing quote compared to others we met with. Miles worked with us to be sure we got the flooring we wanted in record time! The installation crew was on time, courteous and amazingly fast and thorough! We are extremely picky, and we were 100% satisfied with the job they did!! Would hire and recommend absolutely!!!

When I initially hired Victor it was for a carpet install. I would purchase the materials and he would install. He advised me that he could get whatever carpet I wanted at a better price and install at a great price. I fell for it. First he had limited selections, none of them were exactly what I'd wanted. I gave him two swatches of carpet that were my choices and he said, even if it wasn't exact, he would get very, very close. On Sat April 8, Victor sent me pictures of swatches that he had available. None of them were even close to my original picks! I convinced myself it would be ok and made a choice. Then on Monday, April 10th the day of install when I called to see what time he was coming, I was told that the carpet wasn't delivered and they might be able to install the next day. This was unsettling because I had changed my entire schedule to accommodate the Monday install. The next call on the same day, now informed me that the alternate carpet that I had chosen wasn't available until the 20th and I could either make another choice or wait until the 20th. Waiting until the 20th was not an option for me. I had already paid my 75% deposit and felt like I was in a really bad dream. Victor came back with the original swatches that I had turned down and I was basically backed into a corner having to make a decision. Now I keep looking at my floors knowing that I will have to live with this carpet for the next 15 years and trying to convince myself to like it!! The install itself went well, both Victor and his son Victor Jr. are very hard workers and moved lots of items in my home. Unfortunately though, because of the "bait and switch" I can't give a higher grade. I would hire again for an install, but not for purchasing or helping to choose carpet.

Hired Sadaq to remove carpet and install real hardwood in 2 bedrooms (580 sqft). The entire job was done in 1 day, took 2 installers from 7am to 8pm, both installers were very efficient and friendly. Sadaq's price was 35% less then Empire even with their 50% off "deal" & extra discounting sales tactics if you "buy now"; also 40% less then Home Depot. The quality of the wood was better then Home Depot.

I hired Tony to finish a master bath remodel, which had been abandoned by my previous tile person and he did a good job. Tony is very professional, was on time and left the work site clean. He was able to do some carpet repair, too. He is very well spoken and knowledgeable.

Mr. Baynes has been a contractor for me for numerous projects in my home. The scope and nature of the project work included entire interior and exterior painting of a 6800 sq. ft. home, deck restoration and painting, siding replacement, new construction of sunroom, power washing of house exterior and driveways, new appliance installations, wall and ceiling replacement after major water damage, carpet installation, tile refinishing in the bath area, painting of exterior rod iron fence and gates and widow re-sealing and re-glazing. While home improvement projects are inherently stressful for almost any homeowner, Mr. Baynes’s services as a contractor were invaluable, and I have been extremely pleased with the final result. Specifically, I would give Mr. Baynes top marks in the following areas: 1. Quality of work performed. The quality of work done was consistently. Mr. Baynes was knowledgeable, skilled, and competent in his respective trades. He was conscientious about all of the project specifications, and his work product rarely needed improvement or revision. 2. Quality of work. Mr. Baynes was professional, reliable, courteous, and respectful of my property and privacy. He had an old school work ethic (often 10-hour days, some Saturdays), good work habits, strong safety orientation, and emphasized getting the job done right rather than doing it fast. His pride in his work was evident. He tidied up at the end of each workday. I also found him to be trustworthy, and felt comfortable with allowing him access inside my home. 3. Project management and coordination. Mr. Baynes’s prior experience working in construction really paid off. He was knowledgeable about all aspects of my projects, and was able to plan, coordinate and manage the activities, effectively. 4. Integrity and professionalism. Throughout the projects, I was impressed with Mr. Baynes’s commitment to generating a top quality product, rather than maximizing his profit margin. 5. Effective communication. Mr. Baynes kept me closely informed of work schedules, delivery dates, and projected completion dates of different phases of the projects. His communication was always clear, informative, and helpful. 6. Flexibility and effectiveness in dealing with unexpected developments. When unforeseen problems surfaced (e.g., water damage behind a wall; he worked diligently with me to identify solutions that was acceptable to me. 7. Responsiveness to my needs and concerns. Mr. Baynes’s commitment to my satisfaction was evident in his actions. 8. Truth in advertising. In his proposal, Mr. Baynes gave a clear breakdown of costs for each facet of the projects. His contract was just as detailed in describing the work to be done and the itemized costs. When the project was completed, all the work was done as described and agreed upon, and there were no hidden costs, extra expenses or unpleasant surprises. As a homeowner and customer, I felt Ms. Baynes delivered exactly what he had promised, at the agreed upon price.

Wilson Flooring replaced our foyer staircase carpet. My project objectives were price, quality and color which had to closely match the color of the upstairs landing and foyer area living room carpets. My objectives were exceeded! They were very professional, removed old carpet, installed new carpet and cleaned everything up. I am a very happy customer and will definitely use them again for all my flooring needs! CLASS A SERVICE!!!

I replaced basement flooring (carpet and wood) with luxury vinyl plank. The whole process from me initially submitting an enquiry to completion of the project was great. There was no hard sell - just good honest advice. Everything was completed as explained and I'm so happy with the end result.

Caesar has helped us with our carpeting needs now for more than 5 years - all three floors of my house. He is friendly, knowledgeable and honest - a really nice person to work with. The installers are punctual, meticulous and were professional in the way they went about their work. They took extra care with the furniture and the house was always in great shape when they completed the work.

WS Flooring did a good job on our flooring work in our house. This included installation of new hardwoods (in formerly carpeted rooms), stripping and refinishing existing hardwoods (to match the new ones) and installation of new carpet in remainder of the house. WS worked with us to provide the specific carpet product we wanted (which we'd been shown by another flooring contractor). WS was responsive, honest and flexible with what we wanted and worked around our scheduling. Pricing was good value. We had received 3 separate quotes for identical work. WS ensured we were happy and fully satisfied prior to accepting payment. I would not hesitate to hire WS again for another flooring job.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

  • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
  • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
  • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
  • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
  • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.

How much does it cost to install carpet?

If you’re ready to bring new life into your house with a makeover from the ground up, you’re ready to learn more about carpet installation costs. Installation costs vary greatly, depending on a number of factors such as the type of carpet, the number of square yards, any necessary repair work, the number of stairs you have, and where you live. Due to these variables, the national average cost of carpet installation ranges between $200 and $4,500.

To start planning for your new carpet, measure roughly how many square yards of carpet you’ll need. Research the main carpet styles and materials you like to get a feel for what they cost. Nylon carpets are typically the least expensive, and wool is one of the higher-end carpets. Prices per square foot might range from under $2 to over $10, depending on materials. Count the number of stairs you want carpeted; each one might average between $3 and $10 (or more for box steps). Carpet removal can be an added cost as well, averaging $1-$4 per square yard, depending on the company and regional disposal costs.

How much does it cost to install carpet on stairs?

The number of stairs you want carpeted in your home will directly affect your carpet installation cost. Putting carpet on stairs generally increases the labor time and requires a higher degree of detail than laying carpet flat. Where you live in the country also plays a role in your carpet installation cost. Carpet installation companies in smaller towns with a lower cost of living and a lower cost to do business (insurance, company vehicles, employee labor, etc.) can usually offer their customers lower rates than companies in large cities where the cost of living and the cost to do business are higher. Carpet pros will often quote you a flat rate per stair once they do a site visit to provide an estimate. They’ll take into account the size of each stair you want carpeted (including both the step and the riser), and what type of stair it is. For example, the cost might range between $3 and $10 per stair for labor only. On the higher end of the spectrum, box stairs or staircase stairs with spindles that must be worked around might cost between $15 and $25 per stair.
