The job that I hired Ralston to perform was supposed to be simple. I had an idea for a brand for my business. I didn't have the technical know-how to create the mark fully, so I consulted Ralston to perform the task. He was supposed to not only create the mark, but also define several of its brand attributes, such as colors, etc. So we sat and talked for a bit about my business before he got started. I shared many things - about the company, the product, the target market, the ideal user, what I wanted this tool to accomplish for them. We parted, and he was confident that he understood what I desired. What he delivered is not what was expected. At all. Before we met, he warned me, "It's not what we talked about, but I feel that it was the right thing to do." Admittedly, that comment made me a little nervous. But I hoped for the best. We met. He began his presentation, which was, in and of itself, a work of art. He carried me through the things that we'd spoken about - the traits, the characteristics that my brand should embody, as well as a few other details. Then there was the big reveal. I must say - he gave me so much more than I imagined! His "understanding" of what I wanted is a serious understatement. What he delivered seemed like it was born of an examination of my subconscious mind. He incorporated things into that mark that I had no idea that I wanted. What I requested of him was shallow in comparison to all of the depth, full body, and meaning that he epitomized through my brand. It reflects elements that are core to my heart and soul, to who I am as a person. It was, in a word, perfection. Every time I now look at the mark that he created, I am invigorated by it. It enlivens passion and excitement for the product that I'm creating and all the good that it will do for my clients. It is, in a sense, a beacon of inspiration for everything that I hope to accomplish. Isn't that what a brand is supposed to do?

Mr. Vaz provided valuable input to our ministry, Soul Athletics. My wife and I were inexperienced as far as the brand identity and he provided quality intellect to help us along the way. We were most impressed with the fact that he scheduled meetings with us step by step getting an in depth analysis of exactly what our ministry was all about. He also expressed to us how we can differentiate our brand from competitors and the importance of clarifying our mission and vision. The most important quality that we loved about Ralston was the fact that he genuinely cared about our ideas. He listened very intently and took notes and he even bought in to what we were doing. Lastly, he provided several logos that he thought would make our ministry stand out. Needless to say we are very pleased with the outcome and our ministry is growing because of his contributions. Ralston also made it a point to meet with me on occasion when it was difficult for me to meet because of conflict of time. He once met me at my job to inform me where he was as far as completing the job. After an in-depth conversation, a brand, logo, website, concept, key messaging and future formula was built for my company. Very process and detailed-oriented. Careful to help you create designs that express the true character of your brand. Will pretty much nail it with a concept on the first round because he asks the right questions to gain understanding. He's a very thoughtful designer who tends to look at the project holistically and keeps the long view in mind. It's great to have a designer who cares to see the big picture.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The prices I'll quote for logo and brand design projects are always flat. I do not charge by the hour. The predictable cost makes it easier for you to budget for investing in the design of your logo.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Together, you and I will walk through seven simple steps to design your company's logo. Regular check-ins at each step will ensure we're staying on track and creating what your business needs. STEP 1: GET UNDERSTANDING We start with a deep-dive discovery discussion to get an understanding of what your business is, who it’s for, what it needs and how you want it to be perceived by others through your logo. The conversation will take place in-person if possible, but video chat or phone are OK, too. STEP 2: SET DIRECTION We’ll synthesize the findings from the previous step in a creative brief. This document outlines the parameters of our project and sets the creative direction of the logo. We’ll then create a mood board, arranging photos and other materials on a digital canvas to determine the feeling or mood your product or service—and thus your logo—should convey. STEP 3: GENERATE SKETCHES Next, we get visual. You’ll see up to three pencil-sketched, rough logo concepts. You and I will review and critique each creative direction and choose the right two to develop further given the objective(s) we agreed on in the creative brief. STEP 4: REFINE DIGITALLY Here, the two pencil-sketched concepts are digitally refined according to our discussion. We'll review each concept again in black and white, critiquing and choosing one direction to develop further. STEP 5: DEVELOP COLORS Nearing the end, our chosen concept will be taken through three color explorations. You and I will critique each together and choose the color palette for your logo that aligns with your brand's character and conveys the right mood. STEP 6: REVIEW IN-CONTEXT Evaluating your new logo is helped by seeing how it may appear in the world when put to use. I'll develop a few real-world mockups to make sure what we’ve created is right for the needs and objective(s) we’ve identified in Step 2. STEP 7: TRANSFER FILES Once you and I have confirmed the new logo meets the needs of your business and the stated objective(s) of our logo design project , you'll get all you need to use the logo online and in print. Files will be transferred to you electronically via your choice of email attachment, Dropbox link or Google Drive link.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I trained as a graphic designer at the start of my career and have worked as a professional creative for the last 18 years. I'm constantly learning through online resources like Skillshare.com and actually run workshops teaching many startup founders about the fundamentals of brand strategy, design, and development.
