I had an awesome experience with the sewing instructor here! She’s a very patient and knowledgeable teacher. I ran into a couple of roadblocks on my own and having her class as a resource made all the difference! I’m very happy with her tailoring techniques! I highly recommend her class!!!! I have not taken classes with Dr. AJ but I am one of her clients. The quality of her workmanship is excellent! She has designed and sewn several garments for me. I love her work! Based on what I have seen of work, I would highly recommend her as someone that is very capable of teaching the details of garment construction.

• What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

  Private instruction is $70 per person. Group sessions are $45 per person. There is a discount for lesson bundles. Please call for more information about bundled lessons or if you have any questions regarding sewing, draping or patternmaking classes.

• What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

  I will work with your goals for learning to sew, giving individualized attention to developing your skills, while ensuring that you have a strong foundation in understanding how to work with your sewing machine. In a draping and patternmaking class we start with understanding your purpose for taking this class, your experience in sewing, and review an outline for what will be covered.

• What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

  I have degrees in fashion design & vocational education with an active New York State teaching license in Fashion Design. I have over 25 years of experience teaching both children & adults with an additional 10 years in the fashion industry as a designer, professional dressmaker and patternmaker.
