I'm excited about the opportunity to work this company, I'm very appreciative of one of their staff/designers for continuing to follow-up and leave me messages just to see how things were going and to see if I was ready to update my site. I'm at the beginning of the process with them so I'll follow up with another review upon completion.

I took a leap of faith when I posted on Thumbtack in search of graphic designer. I usually only work with people I know and trust. Amanda stood out from the pack immediately. Her work was attractive and her reply was extremely professional. She is a talented and professional graphic artist with an eye for detail. She is incredibly responsive. She is always positive. I would trust her with any design project. My record label looks forward to working with Amanda again.

I hired Patt for a big decorating/design project that totally transformed my home over a 6-month period. She began with storyboards that laid out design options for each room and provided a future vision of what my home could be. This allowed us to talk in concrete terms about her creative ideas and my own preferences, making the experience both fun and collaborative. Patt is very creative and always came with good advice and fresh ideas to maximize the space I have. She offered multiple options presenting different color and pattern choices, tips to create the illusion of space, editing possessions and finding ways to incorporating others, and making walls disappear into the background. Today, I receive many compliments on my home decor and was even interviewed to be on a TV show highlighting well-decorated homes. I wholeheartedly recommend Patt for any decorating project!

Cake was designed exactly as we wanted it. The only things that we noticed was that there was a gap between each layer that we had to quickly throw some flowers onto cover up and our cake topper wasn't pushed all the way in. Small details, but the guests said the cake was delicious!

Bushra met me at my house to discuss my renovation project. She spent time gathering details and asking questions. She got a contractor she uses to take measurements of my bathroom, and provide an estimate. Ultimately, I’ve decided to hold off on major projects for right now, but look forward to working with Bushra in the future.

After moving from California to Illinois, we started working with Andrea to coordinate colors and furniture for our new home. Our project took several years to finish, phase after phase, and in spite of the complexity of the task, there was never a misstep and the end result was not only beautiful but very unlike any other project in town. The final result was exactly what we wanted, a bit of California in Illinois. We were so happy with the results in Chicago that when we decided on a complete remodel for a 30 year old vacation home in Oregon, we flew Andrea out to the house where she developed a master plan. The design work included gutting our kitchen, the renovation of all the bathrooms, wood floors and new paint colors throughout, as well as furniture selections and arrangement. Andrea is a good listener and one of the few designers that brings ideas, but does not impose her tastes on her clients.

There was a little delay in completing the job, but it was not their fault and they made sure that i was updated with everything that was going on. Their price is extremely competitive and their work even so. HIre them, you will not be disappointed.

My experience was wonderful from the start. Carolina from Mrs Parrot Events was incredibly responsive and understood my vision from the start, while asking the appropriate questions. She was easy to work with, and always available to answer all my questions/concerns. She delivered on a great design on my baby shower and went above and beyond. It was clear she truly cared about my event!

I have used Studio B Designs twice for different interior projects (both large and small) and plan to use them again for a third project (master bath renovation). Rachael and Adam really understand your own personal style, lifestyle and functional needs then recommend and select designs that work - whether it is room renovation, lighting, fixtures, paint colors, fabrics, tile, etc! And at the same time, they gently, appropriately push you in a design direction that you might not have envisioned but absolutely works. I completely trust them and could not be happier with everything they have done for me in my home. I love working with Studio B Designs and highly recommend you do too!

MC designs was incredibly prompt, thoughtful and efficient in their redesign of my master bedroom. They kept it under my $5000 budget, worked quickly and efficiently, and I loved the end result. Cassie was very accommodating to my schedule and did a wonderful job of keeping in contact through the whole process. Within 30 days, through her subcontractor contacts and her asthetic know how with furniture styles, patterns and layouts, I got a bedroom I absolutely loved. I’m glad I found this company, and as someone who works from home, they’ve provided me a place I’m happy to work and live in. Fast, friendly, professional, and cost effective. What more could you ask for?

Patt was so great to work with. This logo means so much to me as it is for a nonprofit I am starting for breast cancer in honor of my mother. I had a basic vision and she just took it an made it absolutely perfect! I can't wait for all the nonprofit pieces to come together so this logo that honors my mom can be seen by the world! Thanks Patt!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

    What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

    • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
    • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
    • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
    • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

    • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
    • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
    • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What makes a good logo design?

A good logo is an easily identifiable, memorable image that represents your brand. A good logo design aligns with your business model and expresses your company’s core values. A good logo design is simple, appealing, and easy for customers and viewers to quickly process. Some of the key components of a great logo are type, color palette and design. The scale, font and arrangement of the text you select will all make a difference in the feel and representation of your brand. A graphic designer will help you home in on the colors that best represent your identity and help you keep the color palette simple. The design of your logo includes the shapes you select and the way the color and type are arranged together. Investing in the services of a professional to create your logo design is likely a smart investment for any size business. Nationally, the average price range for a logo designer ranges from $170 to $250.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
