He photographed our 50 wedding anniversary party...reception and dinner. Nearly all of your others who quoted had only done weddings, but Paul had done anniversaries. He provided photos of everything..the venue, the cooks, the arrangements and all the group photos of family and each table and pretty much every person there. Very cooperative and through.

We hired Kaz as our wedding photographer, and he also included an engagement photo session with our package. I hope Thumbtack will allow me all the space I need in order to accurately describe our wonderful experience with Kaz! He was always professional, open to our ideas but could easily give suggestions to us as well, early to all of our meetings, ALWAYS calm (which is extremely important during the chaos of a wedding), and you can tell he loves what he does, which really makes a difference. He even put up with all of my husband’s bad jokes. I haven’t seen him with other clients, so I can’t say for sure what he’s like with others, but in this business, I am sure you run into ALL kinds of personalities, and he can adjust his communication style and approach based on each client. Just looking at his portfolio, you can see the wide variety of clients and events he’s had, and they’re all unique. Kaz was one of the first vendors we hired for our wedding, and with all of the meetings and communication we had in the months leading up to the big day, I can’t think of my wedding without associating it with him. We developed a real friendship and it was a joy to work with him, but he still kept his professionalism and delivered on all his promises. We met with Kaz on more than one occasion to do planning and scheduling, and he was gracious when I changed that schedule 87 times or sent him a dozen emails in rapid succession. Our engagement session was at a park in August in Georgia (very hot and sticky), but he wasn’t fazed. Our wedding was indoors in a building that was almost all glass, so the lighting was dependent on what the weather was like that day, and he adjusted well. His second photographer and assistant also did a phenomenal job. On the day of, he worked well with our other vendors, and adjusted easily when the schedule didn’t go according to plan. Another mark of a good photographer is that I barely even noticed he and his team was there, yet at the same time I never had to worry whether or not the photographer was getting the shots we wanted. We had a great wedding, and the feedback we’ve gotten from our guests were very positive in regards to the venue, my dress, the cake, the food, etc. But what I’ve probably gotten the most, and what has been most meaningful, are the comments from people when I showed them the photos Kaz took. He captured so many special moments that were likely difficult shots to get. He really is an “in the moment”, candid shot photographer. For those in my family who aren’t terribly photogenic (including me), who tend to look unnatural when posing for pictures, we were happy to find he had caught them during the ceremony and reception in natural smiles, laughing, having fun, and showing their natural beauty. I feel like all of the emotions of the day were captured in the photos, and they have been so meaningful to me and my family. Thank you, Kaz!

Jaki was the photographer at our wedding in November, 2010. She did an amazing job of making me look beautiful, making my husband look handsome, and capturing the joy of the occasion! So professional and fun to work with, and she does a great job of editing and retouching. Highly recommended!

I hired Anthony because I was looking for a relatively cheap photographer to shoot a wedding reception I was having in Atlanta following my wedding ceremony in Seattle. He was very attentive all through the planning process even though I live so far away and wasn't able to meet with him beforehand. He had lots of ideas and was willing and able to meet with my mom at the venue to choose locations for the photos. He also successfully sold me his DJ services, which worked perfectly for what I needed for my small event. He was a pleasure to work with from start to finish, always on time and always communicating his plans and progress with us. He sent a CD of unedited versions of all of our photos and a thumb drive of the photos we selected to have edited -- we appreciated having rights to all of the photos. Ultimately, we got some good photos of myself and my husband and of us with our family. We didn't get any shots of the best moments during our first dance, the turns and the dip at the end -- that was the only thing that really disappointed us. For the amount we spent on more than 4 hours of wedding photography we got some great photos to cherish along with positive memories.

Wayne did an amazing job on our wedding photos. We just bought a house and decided that we did not want to spend a lot of money on a wedding so we decided to have it in our backyard. Pictures have always been important to me but I didn’t think a wedding photographer was in my budget. I tried thumbtack on a whim and it paid off. Wayne offered excellent pricing. I looked at his work and reviews and was very impressed. He was very personable and professional. He was very willing to take any picture combos or ideas we requested with a smile on his face and a great sense of humor. He is also very responsive if you message him. Thanks to Wayne, we have gorgeous wedding photos. I highly recommend Wayne.

We hired Alan to document our pre-wedding photos. From the outset, he was a pleasant professional to work with! Prior to and after hiring him, he was clear and prompt with all communication. Along with having a vision of how we wanted our photos to be captured, were open to his ideas and we were not disappointed. He captured the energy of our personalities in an accurate and wonderful way. We would definitely hire him again in the future.

Anchor + Oak Photography was such a pleasure to work with! From initial contact to gallery delivery, they were very clear & communicative. We originally found them via Instagram because they had previously photographed a wedding at our venue & we were pleasantly surprised at their investment costs, even though this would be a “destination” wedding for them. Upon arrival & meeting in person for the first time on our wedding day, it was almost like running into a long lost friend! They quickly got to work & never missed a beat throughout the day, silently reassuring me that I could live in the moment & relive the memories for a lifetime through photos. Being a wedding photographer is no easy feat, but this duo does it with grace & ease. I would highly recommend working with Anchor + Oak (we already have friends that have also booked them & we look forward to seeing them again!) to write your story through their beautiful photography skills.

Noah was fantastic! When I was selecting which photographer to use for our family shoot, I went back and forth with a few different photographers but Noah was by far the best communicator. He was prompt in responding to any and all of my questions from the very beginning. Once I decided to move forward with Noah, we easily scheduled our appointment date/ time. He stayed in touch regularly as our appointment date came up, letting me know he was watching the weather and sunset times and asked if there was anything specific he could accommodate. When we met, he was early to scope out the site (which is HUGE to me) and was ready when we arrived early. Noah has a very upbeat, fun and warm personality and made everyone feel like we had known him for a long time. He took a lot of candid shots, which I always love, along with the staged shots. After the shoot he was prompt in getting some shots over for review and critique and got me the entire scope of shots shortly after. All around, working with Noah was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We will DEFINITELY be engaging him again for future photography needs! Our family highly recommends him!

We hired Tara for our wedding before we even met her, just because I saw some beautiful wedding photos she had shot for someone I knew. We finally got to meet her 6 weeks before our big day to go over our random plans for the day - like taking photos with chickens and other crazy ideas - which she happily went along with all of them :) She did a pre-wedding photoshoot for us to get a feel for how we would interact in front of the camera to make sure our wedding photos are as great as can be. The photos from that pre-shoot are absolutely INCREDIBLE! We scrolled through loving every single one and amazed that she somehow captured us looking natural, in love, and totally not awkward. 100% recommend, if you're looking for any kind of photographer. We can't wait to see the way she captures our wedding day!

Mr Charles did my engagement pictures at Atlanta Botanical Garden. He was very attentive to me and my fiance needs. He is very professional, he was on time and basically had everything ready to go. I was extremely undecisive on different areas to do photo shots, but he was right there to assist in picking the best areas. AS Photography will also be doing my wedding along with the DJ Services, I am sure he is going to give me 100% then as well. Thanks Charles :-)

Barbara and her team did an excellent job photographing our wedding. She took time to visit the site beforehand to get a feel for the shoot and get our insight on the vibe and type of shots we wanted. She truly went above and beyond as evidenced in our photos. We chose not to have a videographer, but Barbara's photography captured every important moment as if we did. She's prompt, talented and an absolute pleasure to work with. Her work speaks for itself.

Dealora was absolutely wonderful to work with! She was the one wedding vendor about whom I knew the least before the wedding, and she turned out to be the one I liked the most! She did a great job of making my daughter feel at ease at both her bridal portrait session in the mountains and at the wedding itself, even though my daughter is not very comfortable being in front of the camera. I will definitely be booking with her again if another wedding comes along in the future for my younger daughter!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
