I have been training as well as doing therapy with Doc for about 5 years now. and I have to admit that he is one of the best trainers that I have come across. He really cares out your health and well being and he will do everything that he can to help you both physically and financially. If you are looking for a good personal trainer I strongly recommend Doc and I promise you you will not be disappointed with your results.

These have been the best deep tissue massages I've ever received. I used to have a knot in my upper right back that he was able to release after a few sessions. I really enjoyed his consultative approach and the therapy worked wonders!

David has been my trainer for four years and that says a lot! He has a "total health" philosophy that includes strength and mobility training, cardiovascular conditioning, body contouring, and diet. David takes a genuine interest in the day-to-day work/life demands that create physiological pain and tension. He tailors each session with exercises and yoga therapy that target those areas of weakness and/or pain. After my workout, I feel that mind, body, and spirit are more aligned. I know that David's training is truly a very important part of my preventative health care strategy. The value add is that I look good, too!

Honestly, the only way to describe my session with Ms. Love would be......phenomenal! It was my first time experiencing the Reiki therapy, and she walked me through it all and made me feel so relaxed. I will most definitely be seeing her again soon and sharing my experience with others! her energy is amazing and the levels of energy you reach from a session breath taking. I look forward to this being a continuous thing!

I have been working with Jeff for about five years. We were both brand new to the training thing so we learned what works together. The amazing thing is he helped me lose 100 lbs. and the first 60 lbs. was in only eight months! Over the next few years he, expanded his training and expertise in a way that makes him very unique. Working out with Jeff is like active therapy. He listens, cares and says things that really make me think about my relationship with food, people and myself. I have worked with other trainers and there truly is no one like Jeff! I will always be very thankful for his help.

Super Hands Therapy are very professional. The arrival was 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Super Hands Therapy has a variety of music so the ambience can feel peaceful and therefore relaxes the client. The quality of the work is awesome. Super Hands Therapy uses a variety of techniques while massaging to relax the body and mind. I will definitely book Super Hands Therapy again.

Karen is an exceptional Massage Therapist that provides professional, expert, and unique techniques for improved physical activity. As an athlete herself, she is acutely aware of the issues that plaque individuals that combine work routines with daily workout routines. I personally suffer back and neck issues from my repetitive activities. Karen has been able to devise personalized therapy for me that relaxes my muscles thus allowing me to work and workout with much less pain. I highly recommend Karen. On top of being the best massage therapist, she is a genuinely nice person!

I have been working with Courtney for at least seven years now. I am a runner who does frequent and very long and sometimes multiday races. Six or seven years ago when training for a particular race, I hurt my back. I first went to a spinal doctor, had x-rays and MRIs, and physical therapy but it did not try one bit. I next tried a chiropractor which also did not help. I was in horrible pain all of the time. Then someone bought me a gift certificate for the spa down the street. I called and asked for their best therapist and got Courtney. He was amazing. After one session I was already feeling the best I had in months. He got me up and running (literally) in no time. I also worked/work a desk job where I would sit at my desk for 12-14 hours a day and my neck and shoulders kill me, and I often suffer from TMJ headaches. Courtney works it all out and has me feeling better and standing up straighter! Now anytime I have any sort of injury or nagging aches and pains (whether it be my knees, back, ankles, hamstrings, shoulders, neck, whatever) I don't panic, I just call Courtney. He can fix just about anything. Courtney is so knowledgable and if my knee is hurting, he will get in there and figure out that it is actually my tight hamstrings or quads, fix those up and I'll be on my way. He is ridiculously nice and caring and always listens. He gives great advice which has helped me keep my body running well and when I abuse it too much he always fixes it. Courtney is a both a wonderful soul and massage therapist. I have had massages in numerous cities and countries and there is no one better. He's so good that my skeptical husband even eventually gave in and went to see him and now goes every Saturday.

I have been treated by Meredith numerous times so far and can honestly say that she is one of the best. I have received Swedish and AMMA treatments and Meredith is always helping to explain what she is doing and why. She has a great talent to listen to her patients and focuses on every specific detail in order to make you feel better. Initially I saw her for lower back issues and some shoulder pain and after the initial consult she suggested to focus not directly on the problem areas but work on other muscle groups around the areas that likely influence the problem. Sure enough, already after the first treatment a felt a big difference and was surprised to see how tense I really was all around. Meredith is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to massage therapy and I can only wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking to feel better......

I train clients with goal-specific exercises, relieve tense muscles with massage as well as encourage deep abdominal breathing through Tai Chi and/or Qigong techniques. I also use several massage techniques to give relief to certain muscle issues, discussing on preventative exercises to do to combat chronic issues.

We specialize in Swedish, deep tissue, facial, foot and hand scrub, hot towel session and also hot stone massage.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is classified as an alternative healing method, but licensed naturopathic doctors share some of the same academic background as conventional medical doctors and can often prescribe some medications. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), naturopathic medicine is holistic care that addresses a wide range of problems including (but not limited to) allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopathic medicine aims to strengthen and empower the body and its organs to heal itself through low-force interventions. Here are some examples of the type of medical services often provided by naturopathic doctors, as cited by the AANP:

  • Clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing
  • Nutritional medicine
  • Botanical medicine
  • Naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy)
  • Hygiene
  • Counseling
  • Minor surgery
  • Homeopathy
  • Acupuncture
  • Intravenous and injection therapy
  • Naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth)

Can naturopathic doctors prescribe medication?

Licensed naturopathic doctors can prescribe some pharmaceutical medication. Naturopathic doctors complete academic training similar to that of conventional physicians: a bachelor’s degree with a focus on pre-med studies, followed by a four-year residential naturopathic medical program whose first two years have a similar foundation to that of a conventional medical school. After completing their studies, they must pass a post-doctoral exam. Although licensed naturopathic physicians are able to prescribe medication, they usually focus on prevention rather than treatment of symptoms. A naturopathic doctor will offer a holistic approach to your care that encompasses your mental, physical and emotional health. While they will prescribe medication as needed to treat illness, they are also likely to be creating shifts in your lifestyle and nutrition to effect deeper changes in your body’s response to illness.

How long do naturopathic doctors go to school?

Like conventional physicians, naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous academic and clinical training prior to practice. Typically naturopathic doctors go to school for eight years. There are currently 20 states in the U.S. that provide licensing for naturopathic doctors. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, a naturopathic doctor must complete a bachelor’s degree and an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical program, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination, the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), in order to receive a license or registration to practice medicine.

The first two years of the residential naturopathic medical program cover many of the same areas of study as conventional medical schools. Naturopathic doctors provide primary patient holistic care. The goal of naturopathic medicine is preventative care and a focus on low force intervention healing methods. This can include natural medicines, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and much more. Naturopathic doctors often work in tandem with conventional medical doctors, as the two practices complement one another.

How do you find a good naturopath?

It’s important not to get misled by the title “naturopath” when searching for a naturopathic doctor. A naturopathic doctor is a licensed professional, while anyone who so desires can call themselves a naturopath. A naturopathic doctor has completed eight years of schooling and is licensed to provide high-quality medical care. When searching for a naturopathic doctor, a good place to start is by researching your state’s licensing and regulatory body for that profession.

Currently, 20 U.S. states license the practice of naturopathic medicine. For those seeking holistic, body-centered healing solutions, a naturopathic doctor can be a good fit. They use natural medicines as well as treatments such as electrotherapy and ayurvedic medicine to encourage the body to heal. Once you have determined a list of naturopathic physicians who are licensed in your state, look for reviews, ask for referrals, and interview the physician in person or by phone to find the right care provider for your health needs.

Do naturopaths take insurance?

Many naturopathic doctors accept insurance, but a separate question is whether your insurance covers alternative and naturopathic services. There are several steps you can take to find out:

  • Verify whether you live in one of the 20 states that currently licenses naturopathic physicians:
    • Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
  • Confirm whether your insurance will cover naturopathic medical services. Read your insurance plan’s fine print, verify whether naturopathic doctors fall into your insurance carrier’s definition of a doctor, and confirm that the care you are receiving is considered medically necessary. Questions to ask your insurance provider could include:
    • Am I covered for this treatment by a naturopathic physician?
    • Do I need a referral?
    • Is there a list of approved naturopathic doctors in my network?
    • What will the co-pay be?
    • Are there limits to my naturopathic coverage?
  • Before seeking medical care, it’s key to understand the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a naturopath. Anyone may advertise themselves as a naturopath, while to be a licensed naturopathic doctor, a person must complete academic and clinical training.
