We are so happy that we hired Scotty Paulk for our company party. He and the guys that he brought with him were fantastic. They showed up early so they would have plenty of time to be ready to go when our guests arrived. They sounded amazing and the addition (at Scotty's recommendation) of the saxophone really added to the overall performance. We have a very diverse group of employees and Scotty was able to play something for everyone. We didn't want them to leave, so he was super flexible and stayed an extra hour. We would DEFINITELY hire him again! Thank you!
Ali was absolutely extraordinary at playing for myself and my new Fiancé! she was timely, talented, maintained communication, and brought an excellent vibe to the whole performance. 10 out of 10 I'd most certainly hire her again.
Taking violin lessons (and now viola) with Paige. It's been a much better experience for me than my first time trying to learn violin. I appreciate that she's willing to adapt her lessons to my own goals and also select music that is actually pleasing to listen to even for an absolute beginner. As some other reviews mentioned, she's also very quick to reply to any messages.
This band was awesome. Everyone at the wedding raved about how fun the wedding was and how great the music was. The band was superb. We were very pleased. A very fun day fit all.
You guys help me get my Cab business off the ground. Thanks I will definitely recommend you guys!
Derek Ferwerda is an incredible instructor. I've been a student of Derek's for many years, and the quality of instruction and the incredible amount of love he has for teaching and his students is unparalleled, and something you won't find anywhere else in the world; let alone the Southeast... I originally began with Derek as a guitar player, but after a while working with guitar he helped me find that bass guitar was my true calling. Since I began working with Derek as an amateur musician and just a kid with a dream, I have gone on to play in many local bands, record with other artists, and I've had the opportunity to share stages with some of the most incredible musicians you'll ever come across. What sets the Guitar Room apart from other schools is Derek's linguistic approach to learning and teaching music, and the very warm, loving, welcoming environment I have found with his community of students. He has an incredible dedication to his students, and will do anything and everything to help them reach their highest potential. When you come to the Guitar Room, you will find not only an incredibly talented and dedicated mentor and instructor, you will also find an incredibly supportive community of students and musicians that will embrace you or your child, and help them reach their potential as musicians and people. I couldn't recommend Derek Ferwerda and The Guitar Room any more. You won't find better anywhere!!!!
Jules and the Gents were amazing. The added ambiance from the band made my outdoor event a great success, I plan to contact them in the future for other events.
Every review says as much about the person reviewing as it does the business reviewed. Olga is a conscientious and professional piano and voice teacher and I highly recommend her. A bad review is telegraphing that the person writing it has specific things that set them off. Sometimes these are fair and then the review reads as sensible. Typing a bad review in ALL CAPS is not sensible. The person comes across as obnoxious and at best, as fussy when focused on things most people consider unfair, like free lessons. Unless it is someone who shares the same issue, when someone like that writes a bad review the only person he or she is pushing away is someone LIKE THEM. So in that respect, they're doing the place a favor because they are aborting another bad review. Most of us read multiple reviews and can sort the rational voices from the angry ones. I am a parent of two boys and I have to say that $20 for quality one-on-one (private) 30 minute music lessons is too cheap. This is especially true if the teacher has several university degrees. Yes Olga gives us a discounted rate for my younger son but I do not expect her to teach for free. I am yet to see a teacher giving a $20 private lesson and free lesson for the 2nd child. To do it once perhaps, but that deal would be too good to be true to sustain long term. Not only would the teacher soon go out of business but it is unfair to the parents who are paying a higher but fair rate. In this day and age that is not a fair price for a qualified music teacher. However, $20 for a group lesson of 4 or 5 kids would make sense. My boys were able to read notes from their first piano lesson and are able to interpret a piece of music. Their lessons include scales, arpeggios, classic pieces, aural testing, sight reading and music theory. She is currently preparing my eldest son for the grade 1 Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Exam. I can say she has gone above and beyond what previous piano teachers have delivered, even extending the lesson time by 5 or 10 minutes if needed. She was more focused on my boys understanding the concept than anything else. In fact and she spaced our lessons so they do not overlap giving me ample time to discuss any concerns. Our experience has been that we get more than what we pay for at each lesson. No one should have to work for free. The effort Olga makes in teaching our boys correct finger posture, rhythm and theory is incredible. She is great with kids and I could not ask for a better teacher.
Best DJ in town, versitile and can keep you on the dance floor all night regardless of the crowd.
My daughter takes private piano lessons with Nancy. I am ver impressed by Nancy's way of teaching kids piano, she's very patient and caring. She's very thorough when introducing new songs. Nancy made learning piano fun for my 8 years old daughter.
Ryan is truly the Sherpa that guides you on the journey of inspired learning and appreciation for the guitar, no matter what your starting point. Yes, he most definitely has been to the summit himself as demonstrated by a mastery of many genres, styles, techniques, and a natural improvisation voice, not to mention his gigs and the musician company he keeps. Regardless, he knows the path and is personally and genuinely invested in helping you get where you want to go. I began lessons with him in the summer of 2013 to learn Jazz and musical theory for improvisation. Ryan has demystified the modes and helped me feel comfortable with the notes and patterns up and down the neck. He has a knack for laying out a logical step-wise approach for building a foundation that makes successive concepts more understandable. Lessons are very relaxed and often include an exchange of ideas that run from guitar care, to latest rock or jazz artists, to dumb questions you were always embarrassed to ask about music theory, to how do you see the patterns on the neck, to asking his suggestions on how to improve on an original song, to a variety of ways to practice or think about lesson material, to ..well you get it. Ryan has a depth of knowledge on so many aspects of playing music. He also has an uncanny ability to know where you are in the learning process and laser-like vision and ears as you play. Most often he understands your challenged moments intuitively and can offer a fix on the spot, or a practice suggestion, or a supplemental concept that puts things into perspective. Finally, I admire Ryan for his natural ability to balance the rigors of technique with inspired musical ideas. In short, you will discover that Ryan is the real deal, both personally and as your Sherpa instructor!
We have seen JP perform at local restaurants and clubs and hired him for a class reunion. He is a lot of fun and enjoys getting the crowd involved in the act whenever they are willing. He is quite talented and can sing and play a variety of music. His set up makes the audience feel like they are listening to a full band. We believe you will be equally impressed and highly recommend him for your next event!
This group shows what getting back into soul music really means. The quality of old school music is still alive and well in this group
I've been taking bass lessons from Jim Coley close to three years now and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. I came into it knowing absolutely nothing about bass with the exception of knowing I wanted to play. I didn't even know the note names of each open string! I'm still learning and have much to learn but I couldn't have picked a better teacher. He's patient, supportive, encourging and experienced. I came in aiming to be as well rounded as I could be and he has covered so much ground with me in a diverse curriculum spanning every genere possible. He is also more than willing to teach you songs by your favorite bands or artists. He goes above and beyond every time and has been flexible with me at every turn. Its more than worth your time and is one of the most valuable insvestments I have made since moving here. I strongly implore anyone with the desire to learn to take some cash and spend a few minutes with him and see how it goes. You'll be glad you did!
Jack has been doing sound and DJ work for my band and other bands for many years. Pro gear and sound engineering. He deejays all our breaks and keeps the tunes, special last minute requests and fun going for our clients. Ive seen and heard him deejay complete events with great success and know he receives call backs. Good value for your budget!
