Very knowledgeable and passionate about teaching. I feel confident learning from Ali as she is currently active in the performance industry and is able to clearly provide examples of what she is teaching. After just one lesson, she is already correcting my poor singing habits and helping me develop the technique needed in today's music industry. Looking forward to the next lesson!

She is very nice and easy to talk to. She believes in what she teaches. She is very optimistic and helps me with my confidence. She worked with me at my home. My lessons are 30 minutes but a good thirty minutes. Her quality of work is good.

She's great, responsive, helpful, she doesn't teach whatever music she wants to she lets the children choose the genre of interest even if it's Disney songs.

Cool guy and super knowledgeable about music. His lessons go much deeper than just learning songs, he's going to teach you the theory behind them and how to understand/deconstruct them, which I really appreciate. You really get a sense that he has a plan for you to improve, he keeps track of your progress and has a program for you as a player. I also like the informal atmosphere, he's easy to talk to. Would definitely recommend him to any player looking to improve.

Keith is an exceptional teacher. Taught well beyond just simple chords and individual songs. Taught theory and had a very simple approach to making this complicated instrument not seem so overwhelming. I recommend Cordell music to any and all!

James has done some good work with our son. He is engaging and covers a breadth of musical theory, percussion and various instruments. I like his focus is on helping my son become a musician and not just a drummer or percussionist.

James offers a fantastic multidimensional approach to teaching music. He's very talented but also nice and encouraging, so he gets along great with kids.

I am of 'advanced maternal age' and it was quite a leap to attempt a life long dream of playing the piano. I didn't know where to begin so I googled Piano Teachers in my area. It was my great fortune to sign up with Teal Justice. She approached each student individually (I eavesdrop while waiting for my lesson to begin), teaching the youngsters to read music, place hands properly and adds theory and history to her lesson. As an older student, I could care less about theory ~ I just want to play...under her guidance, I have advanced through two books in less than a year and have taken on a third for my own enjoyment.

I have just started piano lessons as an older adult. I am very impressed with Teal Justice's ability to adapt her instruction to my specific needs, and look forward to a productive learning experience.

Awesome teacher!! I have been taking lessons for five years with Eric and can honestly say that I would not be where I am as a guitarist today if I hadn't. As a teacher, Eric helps to explain not only "how" to play, but goes further to explain the "why" behind it all, teaching the "music theory" behind what is being played in a way that is both understandable and applicable to becoming a better musician. Starting out as just a beginner, I knew that there was always something new that I could learn from Eric, from learning how to play my favorites songs, to being taught new chord structures and scale concepts, I always had something cool, exciting, and challenging to go home and practice. I would highly recommend Eric as a teacher for anyone looking to become a better guitarist and musician.

Tracy S.

Verified review

Eric has been my 11 year old daughter's guitar teacher for several years. We can't imagine taking guitar from anyone else. He is laid back, kind, and easy to work with. He's funny and relates both to kids and adults. Eric always tries to find music my daughter enjoys and mixes her lessons up so it never gets mundane. If we need a make up, he's more than accommodating. I cannot sing his praises enough!

Megan S.

Verified review

Eric not only is patient with the kids, his instruction is thorough, he introduces them to music they are likely to be familiar with, and he combines basic and more advanced instruction in each lesson. The kids "feel" their progress with each lesson.

Every review says as much about the person reviewing as it does the business reviewed. Olga is a conscientious and professional piano and voice teacher and I highly recommend her. A bad review is telegraphing that the person writing it has specific things that set them off. Sometimes these are fair and then the review reads as sensible. Typing a bad review in ALL CAPS is not sensible. The person comes across as obnoxious and at best, as fussy when focused on things most people consider unfair, like free lessons. Unless it is someone who shares the same issue, when someone like that writes a bad review the only person he or she is pushing away is someone LIKE THEM. So in that respect, they're doing the place a favor because they are aborting another bad review. Most of us read multiple reviews and can sort the rational voices from the angry ones. I am a parent of two boys and I have to say that $20 for quality one-on-one (private) 30 minute music lessons is too cheap. This is especially true if the teacher has several university degrees. Yes Olga gives us a discounted rate for my younger son but I do not expect her to teach for free. I am yet to see a teacher giving a $20 private lesson and free lesson for the 2nd child. To do it once perhaps, but that deal would be too good to be true to sustain long term. Not only would the teacher soon go out of business but it is unfair to the parents who are paying a higher but fair rate. In this day and age that is not a fair price for a qualified music teacher. However, $20 for a group lesson of 4 or 5 kids would make sense. My boys were able to read notes from their first piano lesson and are able to interpret a piece of music. Their lessons include scales, arpeggios, classic pieces, aural testing, sight reading and music theory. She is currently preparing my eldest son for the grade 1 Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Exam. I can say she has gone above and beyond what previous piano teachers have delivered, even extending the lesson time by 5 or 10 minutes if needed. She was more focused on my boys understanding the concept than anything else. In fact and she spaced our lessons so they do not overlap giving me ample time to discuss any concerns. Our experience has been that we get more than what we pay for at each lesson. No one should have to work for free. The effort Olga makes in teaching our boys correct finger posture, rhythm and theory is incredible. She is great with kids and I could not ask for a better teacher.

Ryan is truly the Sherpa that guides you on the journey of inspired learning and appreciation for the guitar, no matter what your starting point. Yes, he most definitely has been to the summit himself as demonstrated by a mastery of many genres, styles, techniques, and a natural improvisation voice, not to mention his gigs and the musician company he keeps. Regardless, he knows the path and is personally and genuinely invested in helping you get where you want to go. I began lessons with him in the summer of 2013 to learn Jazz and musical theory for improvisation. Ryan has demystified the modes and helped me feel comfortable with the notes and patterns up and down the neck. He has a knack for laying out a logical step-wise approach for building a foundation that makes successive concepts more understandable. Lessons are very relaxed and often include an exchange of ideas that run from guitar care, to latest rock or jazz artists, to dumb questions you were always embarrassed to ask about music theory, to “how do you see the patterns on the neck”, to asking his suggestions on how to improve on an original song, to a variety of ways to practice or “think” about lesson material, to…..well you get it. Ryan has a depth of knowledge on so many aspects of playing music. He also has an uncanny ability to know “where” you are in the learning process and laser-like vision and ears as you play. Most often he understands your challenged moments intuitively and can offer a fix on the spot, or a practice suggestion, or a supplemental concept that puts things into perspective. Finally, I admire Ryan for his natural ability to balance the rigors of technique with inspired musical ideas. In short, you will discover that Ryan is the real deal, both personally and as your Sherpa instructor!

Through my musical journey , I had trouble with finding a teacher that could keep me on my toes and continuously teach me new things every time I walked into their studio, that is until I met Ryan. Every time I went into his studio. I always learned something new. He taught me a ton of jazz theory and he taught me how to become familiar with the fretboard. Most important of all he taught me that there is always something to work on no matter how experienced you are.

I have been taking jazz music theory lessons with Ryan for 8 months and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Ryan is extremely knowledgeable and conversant in all forms of music. Ryan is an experienced teacher who works to a plan and knows how to push his students appropriately to help them realize their potential. Ryan is able to demonstrate everything he wants his students to learn, which is extremely helpful.

Elideusa has been an amazing instructor, she has really helped me build on not just my confidence as a singer but with the overall strength in my voice. Elideusa has taught me different breathing techniques to calm my nerves before performances and that allow me to have more control of my voice while performing. She makes the learning environment very comfortable and I appreciate that!

Alex worked voice with me and piano with my young daughter. She has a genuine talent for sharing her passion and experience in music. I consider her my "coach" more than anything while she is definitely a "teacher" when it comes to my daughter. This demonstrates her adaptability in meeting the needs of each, individual student. She is also very accommodating with regards to schedule and goals. Like anything, you get what you give. Alex is patient and understanding when life isn't providing much time for personal practice. She balances that with passionate encouragement that makes you look forward to your next lesson and motivates you to be prepared.

Mark is a pleasue to learn guitar from. He has a broad knowledge of all types of music and understands how to convey the specifics of playing each of them. He displays a passion for teaching and always encourges and acknowledges improvement in my playing and learning the lessons taught. Many guitar teachers spend much of the lesson showing how well they can play rather than concentrating on the students ability and helping them breakdown barriers for learning a lick of tough song. Mark is the complete opposite. My learning the lesson is his goal.

I took private lessons with Mark for 2 years, and he's a fabulous teacher. I started off learning "metal" scales and riffs but later decided to take a classical route. He's a well rounded instructor and I would highly recommend him. I have a personal friend who encouraged me to take lessons with him who is now a classical guitar instructor at a university and he learned from the best :-)

I've been working with Derek now for a few years and I have learned so much and have expanded my guitar playing more than I could ever imagine. He encouraged me to truly be a part of the music and song. At first I was afraid of making mistakes and he taught me that keeping the integrity of the song is more important than focusing on the mechanics of playing. I can't imagine taking guitar lessons from anyone else!! He is a very encouraging teacher and has an incredible amount of experience in the music industry. If you're interested in taking music lessons, I highly recommend contacting Derek Ferwerda!!

Derek is a number #1 when it comes to the music world. If you need instrument lessons from bass, guitar, drums - he’s the guy that’ll get you to where you want to be. You’ll learn from the ear and he’ll show you the way. I learned from hearing a song and playing it. After awhile I could hear what I was supposed to play. Derek has a great heart and will make you feel welcomed into a group of students & friends that’ll show you what they’ve learned and even jam together. Derek is a long time friend and mentor. I’d never need to go anywhere else to learn.

Scott M.

Derek knows his students and tailors his lessons accordingly. He's not just a guitar instructor; he's more like a music life coach helping with technique, new habits, songwriting tips and band arrangement. It's a very open and laid back environment and you don't even realize what you are learning while it's happening. Very intuitive approach. I highly recommend a visit.

Kris has been teaching three of my seven children for almost two years now. I majored in music at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and taught voice for seven years. Kris has a two-pronged strategy of teaching both technique along with theory, which is integral in the understanding of the structure of music. My children love him, and he understands both the seventeen year old and the ten year old, giving them all music they can both identify with and WANT to learn. As soon as we can, I will sign my eight year old up!

I am currently in college, but from Kindergarten through 12th grade, I took lessons with Ms. Vera. I will admit that my enthusiasm for piano waned a little when I hit the pre-teens, but Ms. Vera continued to encourage me and I truly think it was because of her that I managed to stick with piano-and I am glad I did. With Ms. Vera, once you learn the basics, you can pursue anything from a classical music education to simply learning your favorite songs that you would like to be able to play on the piano. No matter the song-Ms. Vera always looks through a plethora of resources to find me what I want. Most importantly, however, she is one of the sweetest, encouraging, and intelligent people I have ever met! You will not regret taking lessons with her!
