Steve is very talented and went to great lengths to make sure my business headshots were the best possible. He took dozens of digital photos to get the best results. I would not call anyone else but him after this experience. You won't find a better photographer for this type of work.

Steve was on the ball and the results of the corporate headshots turned out great. We ran into a hurdle with a moire pattern appearing in the images, but he stuck with it and resolved the challenge like a pro.

    About this pro

Quality Photography. Quality Directing. Quality Retouching. Quality Photography: I try to get it right in camera. That is to say I'm not looking to "fix it in Photoshop". That means moving lights, moving people, and doing all I can to get the best capture possible. Quality Directing: from a portrait photographer's point of view, is about getting natural and engaging expressions. It's about developing a range of expression to choose from. It's about working through the nerves of "here's my picture smile" and getting to, "Wow, where did you get your headshot done?" Quality Retouching: I am an accomplished retoucher. When you have a session with me you're talking to your retoucher as well. I'm an accomplished retoucher. I've spent, literally, thousands upon thousands of dollars learning how to retouch. I've bought on-line courses, books, and attended workshops and continue to study on a regular basis. My job is to make people comfortable and create their image that is the best "them" I can. That's what I enjoy. Taking them from, "I just don't take good pictures." To: "Wow! Thanks so much! I love them!"

      Q & A

      • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a member of ASMP and have been certified by the Professional Photographers of America as a Certified Professional Photographer. I recently won a "Phd" award given by internationally known portrait photographer Peter Hurley.
      • What types of customers have you worked with?
I'm a portrait photographer. So I take pictures of people. I'm hired by my subjects directly, marketing directors, art directors, ad agencies and other intermediaries.
      • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check out the photographers website and blogs. Any photographer can put up a dozen good photographs. But can you go back on their blog and see their quality and consistency? Then look for what their putting on their blog and website. Are they a landscape photographer looking to make extra money by doing portraits? The other thing I'd advise people is that you will get what you pay for. Thumbtack is great for many reasons but it fuels "the race to the bottom". I might have the highest price of all the quotes you're looking at but I'm worth it. I deliver, time and time again. I roll up my sleeves, I think about the person and what they want to accomplish with their image and I serve that goal.
