I had a leak in living room and water was seeping through the electrical outlet of my roof. With rain in forecast in the next couple of days, I needed to get this fixed asap. I used Thumbtack to get estimate and within an hour I had couple of quotes. Called Phil and he came over in an hour. Fixed the leak. Basically needed some resealing of shingles . Was reasonably priced. Was pleasant to deal with and very professional. highly recommend.

Johnny of Wheelers roofing was wonderful to work with. He was extremely responsive, gave me a fair estimate after thoroughly examining my roof and needs, and scheduled the work quickly. He replaced the pipe caps on roof vents, replaced several missing shingles, performed maintenance and replaced poorly laid shingles around all vent caps and even noticed that our sun roof needed maintenance and fixed that issue at no additional cost. He provided a 3 year warranty on his work and I felt so confident about Johnny and his commitment to excellence that we had no concerns having him repair our roof while we were away on vacation. I highly recommend him and his company for roofing repairs.

My static vent come off the roof from the heavy winds we had. He came right out the next day to give an estimate and he was ready to work. He installed the vent back on for us. He also checked the attic to see if there was any water damage from the rain. He removed some of the wet installation for us as well. It didn't take him no time to do. And price was reasonable. He will be our main contact for any other roof issues!

Antonio and his team are true professionals. They care about their clients, and go above and beyond to deliver an amazing experience. From the initial meeting to the finished product, Equality Roofing will be there for you. Installing a Roof System is not something to put in the wrong hands. So many things can go bad, and those low quality Roofers always seem to disappear when you need them most. Antonio and his entire staff have the knowledge and experience to provide a Fully Warranted Roof System using the highest quality materials and installers. I only gave them 5 stars because 10 wasn't an option.

Turns out I didn't need a chimney cleaning so instead of the $185 to clean and inspect, I just paid $90 for the inspection. So, punctual, honest, professional. May hire them to install chimney cap at some point.

Micah responded quickly and on the same day I submitted a request to assess what I thought was a leak from the roof. He went into the attic 2X, checked thoroughly, and concluded that it wasn't the roof, but a possible HVAC problem. He was very friendly and professional. If I ever have any roof problems, I'll be sure to call this company again.

On Saturday night, I discovered a leak coming from the dryer vent exiting through my attic through my roof. I got on Thumbtack and sent out a request for quotes and heard from Eric at ACE by the next morning. By Monday afternoon, one of his experts had come out to my house, fixed the leaking vent, and inspected and patched the other vents while he was up there. This really worried me, and these guys really helped me out. I know who to call when I need work done in the future.

We had an existing over-the-range microwave replaced with a hood that needed to be vented to the outside of the home. We purchased most of the materials ahead of their arrival. Ed and team were great throughout the removal and installation of the new hood and the venting of it to the outside. They were personable, respectful and experienced with this kind of work. They also ensured that the gas line and electric would not be compromised in the installation process. Ed was very generous in offering advice and service for our aging HVAC compressor unit. I recommend them for this type of job and for any HVAC needs as well. Unbeatable value. Thank you!

Elite Roofing of Georgia replaced my roof last week and it looks great. They worked with my insurance company and the cost was exactly what my insurer stated on the claim. I had estimates from 2 other Roofing companies and both charged extra for architectural shingles and roof ridge vents. The first company guaranteed their work for 5 years; the second guaranteed their work for 7 years. Elite included architectural shingles and roof vents at no extra charge. Elite also replace some damaged plywood before adding the new shingles, again at no additional charge. They guarantee their work for 10 tears. I worked with Matt throughout the process and he explained the insurance claim and gave the project cost and process. The roofers arrived on time and started work immediately. The job took 1 day. I highly recommend Elite Roofing of GA.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
