***FREE ADVICE***READ BEFORE HIRING
-Not all installers are the same. If you hire the cheapest or quickest to respond, there is a reason they are both cheap and fast. Most of us who are in demand are booked weeks in advance for a reason. There is a high probability you will rehire someone later to fix their poor installation if your TV and components are not broken first. Caveat emptor.
-Install an articulating/adjustable mount. Flat mounts, except in rare instances are non-adjustable and you will wish you had installed a moveable mount.
-TV power cords cannot be placed/run/wired behind your walls! Your HDMI/ethernet/coaxial/optical cables can. If you don’t know the difference, make sure your installer does.
-The proper way to hide power cords is to install an additional wall plug (duplex receptacle) near the TV mount behind the TV. If you cannot do this or it is impracticable to do so, the best and least noticeable way to hide the cords is to use a small wall mounted conduit that is both safe and barely noticeable. This is also the case when mounting on stone, block, cement or other impenetrable surface where you cannot add another receptacle or it would be too expensive or impracticable. We use four types of stud finders (latest technology) to evaluate the proper mounting points so that we do not have to drill any extra or improper holes. Even with four stud finders, it is sometimes difficult to determine correct or best mounting points.
-The TV mount must be anchored in, at least two studs or pieces of wood that is usually hidden behind the drywall, not solely by a wall anchor or series of anchors. If this is not done, your TV will not be secure and could fall.
-Ask your installer if they are insured? It’s a simple question unless you don’t want to know. Also, it is very appropriate to ask for pictures of work performed or even references. Read the reviews. Can your installer afford to replace the TV if they break it? I always check the TV to ensure it is operational before I touch it.
