Dog Training

We really enjoyed the training. We had the trainer for 4 weeks and we had in home training. He came to the house and was punctual every time. That’s speak volume to me. He was interactive and included everyone that is around the dog on a regular basis. Very appreciative of that. Our little Ollie is doing so well. The only concern I have is I wish there was a “graduation certificate” presented at the end of the training. Dogs need a little “bragging” rights too. 😃

I have a 3 month old Labrador Retriever puppy named "Choa" that has been giving me a run for my money since I got him due to his high energy level and constantly chewing on everything in his sight. I reached out to Mr. Garrison and received an immediate response with scheduling an appointment for his services. Mr. Garrison was like the "dog whisperer" while working with Choa, in which he did a great job engaging him with treats and then getting him to follow his commands he taught (such as: learning his name, sit, down, stay, off, leave) after only a few trials! He then gave me the opportunity to practice all commands, which of course took me a little longer to get Choa to listen, but he actually did it by the end of each of our sessions! Mr. Garrison answered any questions I had and even provided me with written information to read and follow as I continue to work with training Choa. He also provides feedback from each session he conducts and homework, which really helps me remember the things he taught me and Choa. I must say that Choa is definitely more controlled since using Mr. Garrison, although his chewing and playfulness will take a little more time since he needs to mature! Overall I definitely recommend this service if you need immediate control of your puppy and I will be using Mr. Garrison again for any future trainings needed!

Nick was able to help us train our dog and understand dog language. He was very helpful to our 9 year old daughter and helped her train her dog. I would recommend Nick as a trainer.

Great experience working with me and my dog. Love the way that he takes time to demonstrate how to use the different techniques to help you train your puppy.

Nick has been an outstanding positive reinforcement trainer. Our dog Marci was a tugger and we needed help with loose leash walking. We did two private lessons for this. His advice was extremely helpful, and he really set me as a first time dog owner on the right path with positive reinforcement training. He asked questions and was also willing to answer our own. I highly recommend working with Nick.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

To begin with our customers complete a questionnaire which helps us develop the proper training plan for their dog. All of our training is done in-home. When we arrive for the first session we will take the time to review the questionnaire. From their we start working with the dog and the owner. We will show the owner how to teach the dog the behavior and then observe the owner practicing with the dog. If it is a behavior problem we will work with the dog to identify the triggers and then show the owner how to practice with the dog. After each session we send out an email recap of the visit with a homework for the week. We also offer a 15 minute Zoom meeting between sessions to review training.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a Certified Trainer through Catch Dog Training Academy. I also teach puppy classes for Healing4Heroes a non-profit that provides service dog to veterans with disabilities.
