HandymanApr 24, 2018VerifiedWilliam E. Miller ("Ed")'s reply
I did not perform any work for this customer. I ended up passing on this job. Here's why: 1) After we agreed on a price for the work tasks, the customer added tasks to the list. 2) He and his friends subsequently went ahead and performed the moving job which he had promised to let us to do. 3) The last straw was when we arrived to perform the work, the customer was not ready and delayed our start by discussing it with his wife and then by leaving for about half an hour to buy batteries for a stud finder he wanted us to use, (which he said he was then going to return to the store afterward.) If the customer claims that I delayed starting the job and that's why he did the moving, I did indeed reschedule the first appointment we had because my helper went to the hospital that day to welcome his first grandchild. After that, we couldn't mutually agree on a date until several days later. So I withdrew and marked myself as unhired. The customer marked me hired again, then I marked myself unhired again. He did this again yesterday, apparently just to leave a bad 3-star review. Very unfair.

- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I look, listen, and learn. Experience is the best teacher. And I've always been a very resourceful person. To paraphrase Henry Ford, if I don't know the answer to something, I know how to find the answer.
- How did you get started doing this type of work? Many times in my life, a simple inquiry has led me to recognize an opportunity and pursue it. This is no different. And in a tough market in a tough economy, we don't always get to do what we like best to earn a living. But luckily, the services I've been able to offer have been enjoyable, and I can take a lot of pride in being able to help folks. We do the work we need to put food on the table for our families.
- What types of customers have you worked with?Moving services such as loading, unloading, and moving clients' personal property. Fence repair, removal, installation, and makeovers / revamping / upgrading. Cleaning out houses, yards, sheds, and mobile homes, and hauling away garbage and unwanted items. Serving landlords and owners and managers of real property / rental property / real estate. For the last several decades of my life, I've been an electronics engineering technician and I've worked with everyone from engineers to end users. Appliance, electrical, electronic, and home carpentry repairs have rounded out my experience.
