She's great, responsive, helpful, she doesn't teach whatever music she wants to she lets the children choose the genre of interest even if it's Disney songs.
I have really enjoyed taking lessons at Cordell Music so far. He has a good syllabus and the lessons build on one another in an understandable way.
Taking violin lessons (and now viola) with Paige. It's been a much better experience for me than my first time trying to learn violin. I appreciate that she's willing to adapt her lessons to my own goals and also select music that is actually pleasing to listen to even for an absolute beginner. As some other reviews mentioned, she's also very quick to reply to any messages.
Every review says as much about the person reviewing as it does the business reviewed. Olga is a conscientious and professional piano and voice teacher and I highly recommend her. A bad review is telegraphing that the person writing it has specific things that set them off. Sometimes these are fair and then the review reads as sensible. Typing a bad review in ALL CAPS is not sensible. The person comes across as obnoxious and at best, as fussy when focused on things most people consider unfair, like free lessons. Unless it is someone who shares the same issue, when someone like that writes a bad review the only person he or she is pushing away is someone LIKE THEM. So in that respect, they're doing the place a favor because they are aborting another bad review. Most of us read multiple reviews and can sort the rational voices from the angry ones. I am a parent of two boys and I have to say that $20 for quality one-on-one (private) 30 minute music lessons is too cheap. This is especially true if the teacher has several university degrees. Yes Olga gives us a discounted rate for my younger son but I do not expect her to teach for free. I am yet to see a teacher giving a $20 private lesson and free lesson for the 2nd child. To do it once perhaps, but that deal would be too good to be true to sustain long term. Not only would the teacher soon go out of business but it is unfair to the parents who are paying a higher but fair rate. In this day and age that is not a fair price for a qualified music teacher. However, $20 for a group lesson of 4 or 5 kids would make sense. My boys were able to read notes from their first piano lesson and are able to interpret a piece of music. Their lessons include scales, arpeggios, classic pieces, aural testing, sight reading and music theory. She is currently preparing my eldest son for the grade 1 Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Exam. I can say she has gone above and beyond what previous piano teachers have delivered, even extending the lesson time by 5 or 10 minutes if needed. She was more focused on my boys understanding the concept than anything else. In fact and she spaced our lessons so they do not overlap giving me ample time to discuss any concerns. Our experience has been that we get more than what we pay for at each lesson. No one should have to work for free. The effort Olga makes in teaching our boys correct finger posture, rhythm and theory is incredible. She is great with kids and I could not ask for a better teacher.
Voice lessons with Elideusa are wonderful! She is so patient and encouraging. I gained a solid understanding of vocal anatomy and technique.
I have been taking jazz music theory lessons with Ryan for 8 months and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Ryan is extremely knowledgeable and conversant in all forms of music. Ryan is an experienced teacher who works to a plan and knows how to push his students appropriately to help them realize their potential. Ryan is able to demonstrate everything he wants his students to learn, which is extremely helpful.
To say that Gene is a fantastic musician only gives you a small portion of what comprises his abilities. His passion for music that originated as a child developed into a complete package of what an accomplished musician should be. Not only can he perform with precision and ease, he can teach as well. And not only can he teach, he can communicate with students of all ages, provide them with knowledge of music theory, which enables his students to accomplish more than they had ever expected. A true teacher inspires, and inspiration can only come from true passion for the craft. So whether your need is for a charismatic, talented musician, or an inspired and communicative teacher, Gene is your man.
I've been working with Derek now for a few years and I have learned so much and have expanded my guitar playing more than I could ever imagine. He encouraged me to truly be a part of the music and song. At first I was afraid of making mistakes and he taught me that keeping the integrity of the song is more important than focusing on the mechanics of playing. I can't imagine taking guitar lessons from anyone else!! He is a very encouraging teacher and has an incredible amount of experience in the music industry. If you're interested in taking music lessons, I highly recommend contacting Derek Ferwerda!!
Dr. Mitchell was my first experience with university level music theory. He absolutely exceeded my expectations of how I would receive the information he presented. A phenomenal teacher, and a wonderful communicator. I would study under him again if given the opportunity.
Brock has been an amazing piano teacher! When I moved to Atlanta, I wanted to pick up piano again but didn’t know much about teachers in the area. I found Brock through thumbtack and started taking lessons back in November 2017. He is extremely knowledgeable and patient! I have picked up so much since I’ve started. He has a great room in his house where he teaches lessons, and he and his wife create a very welcoming space for students! He is extremely flexible and responsive when it comes to scheduling. I would definitely refer others to take lessons with Brock!
Abdala is a fantastic teacher that I took lessons with when I was the age of 16 through the age of 18. He was able to effectively take me, student who had been playing for 6 years, and bring me back to the basics and enhance where I was at the time. Through Abdala's lessons, I was able to learn the skills necessary to get into Berklee College of Music on a scholarship. Highly recommended for anyone who is seeking to learn the art of percussion the right way!
Found the teacher that would best meet my goal for piano lessons.
My son has been receiving piano lessons for @ 1 month. His teacher, Ben Phillips, is great. The lessons are fun and easy going, and he really looks forward to the evenings that he has lessons. I don't even have to bug him to practice. It has been great!
He is exceptionally knowledgeable (music theory, composers, meter, music history, etc) and easy to work with. He is very patient and has a great sense of humor. Excellent formal training for any type of music. He takes the time to explain to me what he expects and illustrate if necessary including pronunciation, cadence/rhythm, etc. He is able to present what he is teaching in more than one way which is the sign of a superb teacher. Sets reasonable goals and lets you know how well you are doing. Yes, I have "homework", exercises ad music both. I can read music; however, he is superb for teaching the novice who doesn't know anything about music.
Mrs. Jamie is an amazing teacher and wonderful Music School Principal! My son has been learning keyboard with her for 2 school years and has grown so much in that time. He is excited to learn music, and she is so good at working with him at his private lessons. My daughter is in her small group music class for 4 year olds, and she comes home with knowledge of songs to praise GOD, Chinese songs, different instruments and their families, and many other musical terms and concepts such as forte, tempo, rhythm, etc.. Thank you Mrs. Jamie! A wonderful musical foundation for young children!
Barry was my first and only guitar teacher! I started when I was 14 and I stayed with him until I was 17. ( I should've never quit, but he keeps up with me to this day). He is an awesome teacher and very patient and laid back. I loved my guitar sessions and learning not only the basics of guitar but playing music I loved. I definitely recommend him as a teacher.
Chester is a teacher that perfectly suits my needs, and can be an excellent teacher for anyone. He is friendly enough to make piano lessons interesting and enjoyable, but he also teaches piano very well. He is a great teacher for someone that wants lessons that are knowledgeable, and enjoyable. -Stephen Colletta, age 12
Dr. Davis is my piano instructor and has been for the past two years. Attempting to make steps towards my personal goal of being fluent in piano, I saw an ad for Dr. Davis's piano lessons and decided to go for it! I was not and have not been disappointed since! Dr. Davis is a wonderful teacher and has not only been a fantastic instructor, but a hardworking role model in my life. After some time of getting to know him by student and teacher, he teaches in a way that builds off of exactly where you are in your piano skill (such as the complete piano beginner I started as) and in your life as well. I am in college at the University of Georgia pursuing a difficult degree, and piano unfortunately has taken the backseat for me a few times. Regardless, Dr. Davis has taught me in a way that has changed pace with the chaos of my school life and has encouraged me to continue pursuing piano no matter how crazy life gets. He is a very fair and understanding instructor and works with your schedule as well (I have had to miss a few lessons in the last two years due to personal issues and Dr. Davis was understanding and accommodating in re-scheduling!) Overall I truly enjoy taking piano with Dr. Davis and plan to continue to! My passion for music has grown in numerous ways and Dr. Davis's musical knowledge has encouraged me to practice more and even compose! Remember though, Dr. Davis wants to help the person who is honest in their interest to learn for the betterment of themself. He is an absolutely wonderful supplement to your own desire to learn piano but cannot be a direct substitution for the practice you need to put in to make progress! This is one of the biggest lessons I've learned from Dr. Davis and in turn studying piano under him as helped me as a student in college as well! My management of time has improved and the same work ethic needed to progress in piano has translated directly over to my school work! Thank you for taking the time to read this and I totally recommend Dr. Davis's piano lessons!

I have found a great balance between teaching the learning of music theory, scales, modes and excercises while also Helping the student learn songs and licks.
