Moving day was tolerable because Brandon and Marvin were very professional despite the light rain, the muddy walk area, and the complication brought on by the crabby Park Atlanta enforcer who didn't like hat the moving truck parked in a narrow street (we had no other choice). Great job to both of them for keeping a positive attitude and doing a speedy job. Would use this service again.

I scheduled a 1bd/1ba move requiring 2 men to unload my moving truck in downtown Atlanta. My truck was held up by 3 hours and the 2 young men that Bellhops sent were very polite and flexible with this hiccup. I was very happy with the job they did. They were careful with my things and appropriately friendly.

The movers were fabulous. They called 30 minutes ahead to say they would be 20 minutes late as they were finishing a move ahead of mine. We had everything packed ahead, so the job was loading a moving truck for a long distance move. Our items were handled carefully and packed appropriately on the truck and our home was treated respectfully. We had purchased tie-downs so the items could be secured in the truck and not shift and the movers did a great job with that. They worked swiftly without being careless and the job was finished in a little less time than I planned. We did not go over the 3 hour minimum. It was completely worth it to have hired 3 guys instead of two. I highly recommend these movers. We tipped generously.

The guys were great! We had a somewhat difficult move today (moving from two apartments on different floors), but the crew was very accommodating. Brandon, the supervisor, was friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. Unloading was the quickest part. I was surprised with how fast it was done with only two men. Hire these guys. They did an awesome job and I'd recommend them to anyone.

Best moving experience I've had. Curtis and team (including Adrian) were fantastic. Beyond being really nice and responsible guys, they were incredibly responsive and professional, which was great because we had several changes all the way up to the day before the move. I was very impressed with how together this company is, considering how new they are. You would think this company had been around for years. We had a cross country (GA to MN) move with a car in tow and two drop off locations at the end of the trip and they had all the correct documents we needed right away (e.g., insurance for both vehicle/tow and transit and contents of the move, contract, etc). They were also very quick but CAREFUL. I have had many bad experiences with movers thinking the only thing that matters is time (since that is the only thing that may matter to them when there is a flat rate). With some other movers I've used, they don't read box labels or rush through moving fragile furniture and then leave before you can even notice they've damaged everything. With HH, everything was handled with care including the house we were moving from and (very small) apartment we were moving to, and very importantly, the truck was packed very thoughtfully. It was a larger truck that was only half full, but everything was tied down and stored to protect each item and its neighbors. This may sound like common sense, but when you have movers that are tight on time and the move is taking longer than thought (which this one did), things end up just getting thrown on the truck without much thought and that's where stuff gets damaged. As Curtis explained to me, you get a completely different level of care and consideration when you have movers who are their company (Curtis is the owner). It is their reputation and their dollar if a customer is unhappy or something gets damaged. And yes, they are priced very fairly - about a third of what two movers and truck would charge you and in line with other smaller companies. I hope this review helps convince someone else to go with HH - again they are newer so don't have a huge online footprint, but this is a real review from a real very satisfied customer (beware of people on google who post phony, reviews for pay, there are a lot out there). Will be posting this same review on u-Haul's website. I couldn't recommend this company more!

From the very start, I was pleased with the professionalism of the owner of Pack N Move, Richard. He contacted me quickly and responded to all emails in a short time period. I expressed my concerns about his company moving a heavy, king-size mirrored bedroom set and he assured me that his team would wrap it carefully and handle it with care. I could tell from his attitude that he took pride in his company and I felt certain that I was selecting the right movers. And I was right. On moving day, the guys he sent, Indigo and Ricky were punctual. They not only wrapped the bedroom set, but also wrapped every piece of furniture for added protection. I didn't have to give them any instructions because they knew what they were doing. Richard stayed in touch with me over the phone throughout the move, checking to make sure that everything was running smoothly and to my satisfaction. Indigo and Ricky were fast, hard working, and never stopped to take a break. I highly recommend Pack N Move to anyone who wants courteous and caring professionals handling their cherished possessions.

These guys were amazing! The movers originally booked for moving day cancelled 30 minutes before. We were able to find DKM, schedule the move for that same day at a fair price. Dealing with Phyllis to set it up was fantastic as she was compassionate and friendly. The movers that came out were very hard working, quick, polite and friendly. Highly recommend DKM movers for any moving needs!

I was skeptical with letting strangers handle my belongings, but i had a last minute emergency move back to Virginia and my Mother told me about these Guys so i crossed my fingers, said a prayer, made arrangements and rented a truck for the job (three bedroom house) to which i estimated to be a 6 hour move (Garage was a disaster).they was in and out just under five hours...i never looked inside the truck and was cringing the whole ride to Virginia imagining my belongings being unstable and in terrible shape.when i arrived to my destination to my surprise my items had been in very good condition, this was a great experience...thank you!

Amerapex Moving showed up early for our move! I was shocked because we have used movers before and if they show up, it is typically late. Alex and his team were friendly and professional. Came in, took care of all our items and got us to our new home early! It was nice having a little extra time to settle in. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Amerapex Moving!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
