- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is pretty basic. For my Thumbtack clients is 2% for my broker and 3% for the buyer's broker, so a total commission of 5% paid at closing. I don't charge any upfront listing, purchasing, or leasing fees. I only get paid if/when the deal closes.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I go to real estate classes at least once per month. Sometimes I find myself taking the same classes twice. I feel you get more out of it the 2nd time, since you are familiar with the lesson. The state requirements are minimal to keep your license. I stay up-to-date a lot more than is required by law, for self help.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I bought my first home at 19 years old. I barely knew how to budget monthly bills, but I didn't want to throw away money renting. So I saved up for a few months and bought my first home. I never would have realized how involved the home buying process had I not gone through it. After I closed my home, I began looking into work in the mortgage industry and started doing loan origination for a broker in Suwanee.
