FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My most common jobs are supplying content for marketing use or for the web. I have ghostwritten blogs, online articles for magazines, etc... I am also approached often to write people's life stories. That is a difficult proposition. It takes a long time of interviewing and processing. It is quite an emotional process. Not for the faint hearted. I also write book proposals and grants. The last book proposal that I wrote, the book was sold and the last grant that I wrote was awarded.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A customer looking for a writing consultant should make sure that they have a good relationship with the consultant. Writing whether for personal use or professional use involves certain preferences for tone, length and content. I good consultant will always provide a "sample" of the work that you are considering them for. That way everyone will be happier when the final product is complete. Also, one round of revisions should always come included with the agreed upon fee.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
What I wish clients knew about writing...is that it is difficult. Good writing requires that the client knows what they want and to not take on the persona of being a writer themselves. Botched projects come from the client changing the direction several times during a project. When you hire a writing consultant, you must be ready with your direction and you should be trusting of the consultant that you hire.
