FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly reading anything and everything I can get my hands on pertaining to photography, it truly is the biggest passion in my life after my children! I participate in online classes and am always on the lookout for new inspiration and ideas. I would love to return to F.S.U. in the near future to obtain my Master's in Fine Arts with a focus in Photography and Art History.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As a graduate from The Florida State University's School of Visual Arts, Theatre & Dance with a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art, I first launched a career in graphic design and technical illustration. Photography has always been a passion of mine, but I regarded it as more of a hobby and opted for the security of a 9 to 5 job with benefits. After about 12 years I decided I was not cut out for office life, and veered into freelance design work. Throughout it all I always had a camera with me everywhere I went. After realizing how much I loved capturing life through my lens, I decided I simply needed to do what I loved to do and began my own photography business. I've never been happier!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The majority of my work right now is in newborn photography and strangely enough, real estate photography. (My parents are realtors and I take all of their photos for them, and have gained a clientele in that field as well as my more traditional photography jobs.) Family, and engagement come in second, with wedding and maternity photography quickly becoming more prevalent. I love it all, and I treat each and every job I take on with the utmost importance. I expect perfection from myself at all times.
