FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
- My current rate is $100 per hour. On average, students work with me anywhere from around 5 to 10 or so times before taking (or retaking) their standardized test; even meeting 15 times, this is still cheaper than most test prep courses. The value-add of working with me is that I will provide 1-1 coaching tailored to your student's level, from the perspective of someone who really understands (based on my scores) how the tests are structured, what kind of knowledge and thinking they are looking for, and how to prepare for them.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
- Before our first meeting, I usually recommend the student take an entire practice test, emulating the actual test experience: timed, taken all at once, and with no breaks. This will help reveal not only subject knowledge, but any test-taking difficulties. - At our first meeting, I will ask your student about their experience in school, where they believe their strengths and weaknesses lie, and some brief information about their interests - all to help me understand them as a person, which will help me to find ways to help them connect with the material. After a short intro on my background, we jump in to examining the types of questions they had difficulty with on the practice test, and actual tutoring through questions they missed. - As we work through problems, I will pause and explain concepts in greater detail, write out practice problems on the spot, and utilize a variety of coaching methods to help them gain insight as well as retain their new skills. I also will assist the student in building a personalized "tips database," which will serve as a key resource for them in future practice and actual tests.
