We have never hired a "move out" cleaner before, but since we had to hire a professional carpet cleaner and were already so burnt out from our move, we figured we should find a company that could do both. Of course, I kept putting off researching companies and two days before we had to move out I was in a panic googling everything. I came upon Thumbtack by accident and I loved the ease of reaching out for an estimate and the availability of reviews. Ramil responded almost instantly with a quote and was available to clean the very next day. He was our savior! Once I booked him my husband dealt with him directly. For some reason he didn't get my request for carpet cleaning, just move out cleaning, but for $100 more he added it on. It was still relatively inexpensive and believe me, quite worth it. He and his brother came in and went right to work. They did an AMAZING job. Great attention to detail. They even did the yucky job of cleaning behind the fridge and washer/dryer. The tub sparkled like new. Even though he told us, "We clean everything inside the house", they also cleaned all windows and screens and swept out our patio. The wet vac got out all the stains and made the carpet look like we didn't have a toddler boy trashing it for the last 3 years. One disgusting but interesting thing he told us was that the previous renters must have had a dog because his vacuum picked up a lot of small white hairs in the carpet. It grossed me out because I would vacuum every day and we wet vac'd a couple of times and to think we were sitting, laying and living all over that carpet. Ramil and his brother were our heroes today! They came to our rescue, did a terrific job and got us out by the end of the month, all very affordably. We are so grateful for them. My husband actually said, with their affordable rates, I can hire them on a monthly or bi-weekly basis to keep our new place clean. Woo hoo! He would have never considered that before, had he not seen them in action. Final note - my husband found out that Ramil was actually supposed to babysit his granddaughter today but when he saw that we desperately needed the house cleaned by the end of the month he made other arrangements for her care and took our job. Thank you again, Ramil!

Loni and his team did an incredibly complex job for me integrating rock wall building with electric gates and ups/mail gate in middle, along with a full fence around property and a lot of excellent concrete work. This required integrating the job with an electrician and a welder and a team of workers to prep, install, and clean up. Incredibly professional - I would personally vouch for their professionalism, expertise, and going beyond to deliver a superior product at a fair cost.

Mario did a great job on all of our projects from installing cabinets and building a storage shed to drywall, painting, concrete leveling, and installing vinyl and hardwood flooring. He is punctual, conscientious, well-mannered, and friendly. His experience and attention to finish detail really shows by the quality work he produces. The best way to really know the truth of what a client thinks of a contractor is if they hire him again. And we already have hired Mario to continue working on our on-going remodeling projects. My mom even created a new project for Mario to do: build a small home for her two little dogs!

I've had a full kitchen remodel; bathroom remodels; fencing; full sized steel building built; a whole master bedroom and bathroom addition; to many other things. I wouldn't hire anyone else. Kevin is very meticulous in what he does and always very easy to communicate with. Very happy with all my experiences.

I was looking to have a fence put up to separate part of my house that I was hoping to rent out. I was on a budget and had for other companies cine and look at the project. Ikaika offered the most affordable way which was a wooden fence. I felt he was very honest with me and wasn't trying to rip me off. He saved me a lot of money and in return I was able to use him for more of my home renovations. He's a hard working young man and did the fence all by himself and all in one day!

Andrew has been outstanding to work with over the years. He's painted my house twice. Done a number of construction projects (built a beautiful wood fence, tile, stairs, concrete work, storage shed...). And, I have Andrew help me out at my work (Hale Ku'ike). He's about to install a new silicone roof system and a fairly large tile project. Andrew is honest, fair, hard working and skilled. For these reasons I'm happy to give a honest review with my name and company listed. David Fitzgerald

Vincent and his crew did an awesome job!!! We had a monster banana tree that was taking over our backyard, and beginning to damage the fence we share with our neighbor. I had tried to coordinate removal of the tree for over a month, and although I had received quotes from several other companies, none actually showed up to do the job. Vincent gave me a quote, and began the job same day, all for a reasonable price! It took them only a few hours to do a job I had already been told would take at least a week to do! We will definitely be referring to friends, and look forward to working with him again in the future!

Let me just say that we had an AMAZING experience working with Jan and his team. They were super prompt, on time, and professional at all times. I have rarely seen a group of guys work as hard and with as much positive attitude as Jan and his team. They did an amazing job on our property's fence, and the quality surpassed my expectations by far. I had a fairly complicated multi-sectional vision and they worked with me to bring it to life. I know that my kids and my dogs will be secure on my property due to the super fence they installed. What made it even better for us, is their price was about 50% cheaper than three other quotes I received. I highly recommend All Kind Fencing.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

      • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
      • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
      • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
      • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
      • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
      • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

      • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
      • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
      • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
      • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
      • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
      • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
      • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
      • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
