Allimay's Cleaning Service did an excellent job of giving my house the Deep Cleaning that I had requested. In addition to this, I also needed all the windows in my home to be cleaned as well. I'm completely satisfied with the quality of work that was done thoughout my house and I am especially impressed with the amount of attention and detail that was given to all the window screens and jealousies. Overall, it was a positive experience at a reasonable price.

We had purchased an AC window unit and needed it installed in a window frame that slides left to right, rather than up and down. I called the number provided and Hector told me the cost (which included materials) and was able to come over and take care of it that day. He was extremely efficient. kind and helpful. Mahalo for your great work!

Richard was prompt responding to our inquiry. He worked fast, was cell equipped with tools and parts requiring replacement, and behaved professionally. He come out to do the job on the same day, within a few hours after posting. Other companies excused them self i.e. with slow traffic postponing response to next day service, such behaviour is exaptable when the client has a pressing need for service and the serviceman has competition. Great work Richard, thank you! We will definitely will keep you on the loop when need arises for similar professional work and would recommend your service for others.

Robert did what no one else was willing to do. He made repairs to my shower fixtures and solved the problem. Before I got in contact with Robert, I must have called literally dozens of plumbers. No one wanted to do the job. A couple of plumbers I called suggested that I replace my entire bathtub just to get behind the wall to fix the problem. The estimates they gave me ran into the thousands of $$$. Robert came and did what amounted to "precise surgery" in a skillful manner and fixed the problem without having to take out and replacing the entire bathtub. Out of the dozens of plumbers I called, Robert was the only one who called me back when he said he would and actually came to the house and did the job when he said he would, and he did an outstanding job which did not cost me thousands of $$$. It took me several months of trying to find someone with integrity to do the job before I finally found Robert. As long as he's around I won't be hiring anyone else if I need something done in my house.

Very knowledgeable in all home improvement needs. Fast and experienced to get work done in a timely manner. We were able to do tile in our entire home, including renovating our bathrooms and redoing our old tub to a large tile shower, replace windows and doors. Also relocated our kitchen sink from the middle countertop in our kitchen/living room space , sink now faces the window, and opened up the area to accommodate more room.

Duane and Lou came out and repaired an electrical job that another electrical company had done. The first job was not done up to code, and was done with the cheapest materials possible. Duane and Lou spent an entire weekend here plus multiple days replacing all of the previous electrical work. To say they have been amazing, is an understatement. Duane and Lou have gone out of their way for us several times and I would give them the highest recommendation. They are very professional and know exactly what needs to be done, all the permitting requirements (this is a BIG deal) as the other electrical company who had a license, had NO IDEA about permitting requirements. They are not only professional but were extremely compassionate to us in regards to the cost of repairing all of this electrical work done by someone else. I have the highest respect for those kind of individuals. Thank you Lou and Duane for making our home safe for our family and children.

Kriss came out on short notice, was prompt and friendly. I had a faucet handle that needed to be replaced. Kriss came in, assessed the issue, went out and purchased the materials that he needed and completed the job. His price was very reasonable and the work was great quality. The process was very straight forward. Mario was very upfront with his pricing and it was competitive compared to other quotes I was receiving. He came in and took a look at my shattered window and took no more than two days to replace it. He even returned my repaired window a day ahead of schedule. Thanks Mario! The only thing I will say is that it would be awesome to have more flexible payment options. At the time of my repair, it was cash only.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.
