Whetstone Piano

Introduction: My name is Alexander Conley Whetstone and I have been teaching piano (as a trade) ever since I graduated from Mililani High School in 2011. Since then, I have jumped from being a piano major at the University of Hawaii to the more stable academic pursuit of professional aeronautics (I am an aspiring military pilot). Despite changing my career goals, I will never abandon music for it is a detrimental aspect within my life. I have been playing piano since the age of 5 and I am confident in my ability to teach and pass on all the knowledge that I have, and will continue to garner from musical theory. I believe that my methods and philosophies are superior to my competitors for the following reasons: 1. My beginner to intermediate courses range from $20-30 (depending on if I travel to you or you travel to me), which proves to be a bargain in comparison to the average music instructor's rate of $40-50 an hour. 2. Although a higher price would suggest a higher-quality learning environment, my case is quite the contrary. My novice to level 5 lesson plans are guaranteed to provide the same (if not better) experience offered by my more established rivals. If you are not satisfied with your first lesson, then it is completely free. 3. The final advantage of learning piano and musical theory from me is the comfortable and relaxed environment that I can provide. This is my most important approach towards potential and existing clients because many people dread their progress and begin to doubt themselves, especially when they are paying up to $50 an hour only to learn the basics. This can obviously take away the fun in mastering music and can become extremely stressful for both the student and the person(s) paying such a large amount of money, which I will not stand for. I will admit that I have much to learn, but I am confident that my basic understanding of musical theory will prevail in the end. You can think of my course as a "two-way" learning environment; while you attempt to understand and apply the fundamentals of music, I will be learning from you, which will help me strengthen my individual lesson plans, as well as strengthen my teaching methods for future students.
