Introduction: I am an experienced wedding officiant living in Ames, IA. I specialize in nonreligious, Christian nondenominational, and same-sex marriages of any size, including elopement. My goal is to facilitate the beautiful and meaningful wedding that you want! I like to meet in advance with the wedding couple to go over ceremony details, and then consult by email to produce a draft of the ceremony that you are happy with. I highly recommend rehearsals! Meeting, consultation, help with vows, and the ceremony are all included in my basic fee. There is a small separate charge for rehearsals. If you need a place for a small elopement ceremony, let me know. My house is available in Ames. We have held weddings both inside and outside on the beautiful grounds here.

Everything was excellent. He is very punctual, personal, a great pre-planner, communicator and flexible. Just ask to use his microphone system instead of renting one. We ended up renting one and never used it. It was a pricey rent.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My general fee for a wedding, including a consultation meeting, rehearsal, and ceremony, including travel is $200. For very small weddings and elopements, with no rehearsal, the fee may be less.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I enjoy meeting the bride and groom to talk about what they really want for their wedding ceremony, what will be in their vows, music, and special aspects to the ceremony such as a Unity Candle, Wine Ceremony, Tree-Planting Ceremony, etc. My goal is to facilitate the loving, beautiful, and meaningful wedding you want!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a background in education and public speaking (professor), with strong interests in theater, music, spirituality, and ethics. I am familiar with many religious traditions. I believe in love, and am a romantic at heart!
