We recently purchased a mobile home for my daughter to live in while she attends The Vet program at ISU. I had scheduled two weeks to help her get it cleaned up and painted before she moved in. While cleaning and painting we uncovered water and insect damage around virtually all of the windows that was missed when considering the purchase. Jumped on Thumbtack and within an hour the folks at Top-Flight called and arranged to come by and look at our project. They gave us a quote and agreed to be on site the next day. Well this turned into a much more involved project as we started demolition and they just rolled up their sleves and tackled each issue as they arose. They also honored their original estimate for the work. Their manager, Terry, and his wife worked tirelessly to get this project done and also started work on additional windows. They were very flexible, tolerant of my incursions into what and how things were being done and were able to complete the original project plus start and complete additional windows while I was there. They are good people who work very hard and for us they demonstrated great flexibility with there schedules. I’d recommend them unconditionally for any work like we had done and from spending so much time together I learned they are accomplished in all aspects of building to include demolition, framing, siding, interior walls, electrical, plumbing and many other handyman services. I have done a lot of this type of work in my 60 plus years I can say that you can do much worse, but you won’t find many better than these folks. We are really happy with our choice of Top-Flight for our mobile home repair project.

I hired this mother-daughter team to paint the entire interior of a new-to-me house. They were the most professional of the four firms that I received quotes from and offered the best value. Communicated progress throughout the job and were very personable. I would highly recommend them for any painting job.

This guy is amazing. On time, reliable, cordial, professional, bargain-priced. He installed a cat flap into an exterior door, and adjusted two interior doors (so they no longer rub on the carpet). We are completely pleased in every way. We highly and enthusiastically recommend Brooks Renovations.

Patrick and his team did both the interior and exterior painting for my home. They did an amazing job! Our house went from looking run down to wow, feels like a better homes and garden magazine. Not only did they do a great job but they had very Profesional friendly service. I was also very impressed with how well they cleaned up after the work was done, no mess left behind, just ready to live in.

We hired Jay and his team to paint our interior house trim from a dark wood stain to white (baseboards, window frames, everything!) along with several full rooms and some exterior trim as well. After assessing 4 bids on this large project, J & S was by far the best value! The team came every day at the expected time and worked well into the evening every day. Even after we agreed upon the price and scope of the project, we noticed other little things that needed to be done and Jay was more than willing to help us with resources (if he couldn't do it) or reasonable adjustments to the bid to complete the work. We hired them as painters but they ended up doing much more! They repaired plaster work on our ceiling which we had already paid a guy to do but he couldn't match the texture. After J&S did it, you couldn't even tell there was a problem. They painted our interior exterior doors. They painted the gables high up on our roof and although Jay had to bring in a lift so they could access the room safely, he never budged on the agreed to price. We hired them to install a backsplash in our kitchen. Jay helped us find economically priced granite countertops that saved us thousands of dollars. The whole time, Jay and his brother Saed were always cheerful and very pleasant to work with. The were punctual, worked very hard, were extremely accommodating, and did it all for a very reasonable price. High quality and great value is what I got from J&S Painting. I'd definitely hire them again.

I put a project out on Thumbtack.com for painting the interior of my new home and received a quick response from Blue Line Painting. Upon review of the project (nearly the entire home), I received a timely and competitive estimate from Brian. Critical to me was a need to complete the painting project between closing on the home & new carpet install. Brian’s team was able to commit to & later start the project after closing on the home (they were waiting at the house to get started!), and even completed it a day ahead of schedule. The team prepped the walls and found/corrected several wall imperfections that I had not even noticed. They were neat & tidy, and were very particular about the final product - making sure I was happy & answering my questions along the way. Brian and his team followed up a few days after the painting project was completed to take a look at the space now with carpet and to answer a few questions. When I get ready to paint the kitchen & ceilings (including to correctly repair a few pre-existing ceiling patches), I’ll be back in touch with Blue Line Painting! Thanks to Brian, Rex and the entire Blue Line team for their professionalism, friendliness, and detailed & quality work - as well as great communication throughout the process. They went the extra mile several times in a very short time frame.

    About

I have 18 years of professional painting experience. I paint interiors and exteriors. I like to be contacted by the customer before I give a quote and I like to look at every job so that the customer and I are on the same page. That is why I send quotes for $0.00 and message indicating to please call for a quote. So if you check out my listing and you would like a quote from me, it's best to call me at the number I provide in my message to you or to message me through thumbtack. Because they won't allow a phone number to be posted in our little bio. If you are able to reach me, I will be glad to set up a time to meet with you and give you a free quote. You should be able to see my phone number in my message or by my profile picture. If not then thumbtack will not display it for some reason and you will need to message me personally through thumbtack. Not sure how they show my info to potential customers. Thank you. Depending on the type of job will determine my charge, sometimes it's an hourly rate plus material. Sometimes it's a flat rate including materials. Need to see every job before giving any type of a quote. This way we are both protected. I take pride in my work and feel that I give a fair estimate.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

    • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
    • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
    • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
    • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225

    How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.
