Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Just as we all learn to speak first and later, learn to read and spell - so Simply Music students learn to play (speak) the piano first and later learn the music reading process. This allows the beginning student to develop an intimate relationship with the keyboard and play great sounding music without the added complexity of interpreting music notation. The note reading process is temporarily delayed. In addition to playing and reading music in a variety of styles, students also learn to improvise, compose, and arrange music. I love sharing music with my students. Each student brings something unique and interesting to the class. It is extremely rewarding to observe their pride and pleasure at making music.

Marilyn is an excellent, patient teacher, and in the case of my 9-year-old son, has him playing a dozen songs already after 3 months! She really lets her students experiment & celebrate the art of music, and the learning techniques are genius.

Marilyn Van Roekel is a great piano teacher. My daughter has learned so much from her and the Simply Music method. One learns to play songs right away, which makes learning to play the piano fun.

I did not have any musical experience but wanted to learn the play the piano. In a few weeks I was playing songs comfortably. You learn to play a new song each week while continuing to improve on the basic features of the previous songs.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I most commonly teach shared piano lessons in the Simply Music curriculum. I also teach mountain dulcimer and hammered dulcimer.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I advise students to look for a teacher who will help them develop a full range of keyboard skills. The student should feel a rapport with the teacher.
