My 8 year old son has gone to Steve for over a year now. Jayden absolutely loves going to guitar practice! He has a great level of patience and knowledge and is an incredible guitar player and teacher. My husband goes weekly with Jayden and has learned quite a bit himself while watching. Highly recommend him to adults and kids.

About

I am a private instructor on several instruments as well as a performing solo guitarist, singer songwriter who often performs in duos, trios and bands. TEACHING I specialize in acoustic guitar music, solo instrumental guitar and also teach beginning piano, electric bass, ukelele, and some electric guitar styles. I received my BFA - Guitar Performance from UW-Milwaukee and WI Conservatory of Music. Becoming a musician is a process that anyone can follow. Whether you want to better understand music in theory, learn a particular song or even just focus on a key phrase or lick, I can lead you through the steps to developing musical skill and ability. I'll also make the process enjoyable and fun. I offer weekly and on-call lessons in my studio. I can also make arrangements to teach you in your home, within a ten-mile radius of HeadStock Music or on days that I'm performing in your area. Lessons are also available online through Skype. PERFORMANCE While at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music I specialized in American fingerstyle guitar. I play solo guitar pieces, commonly referred to as classical guitar, however I play on a steel string acoustic and the music is a mix of American music styles: folk, jazz, rock, blues and country. My strongest instrument has always been my voice and I initially studied guitar to be better accompany myself. I enjoy songs from blues, folk, rock, country and jazz styles. I am also a writer and enjoy singing my own songs in a concert/ house concert settings. In most background situations I favor familiar popular songs from multiple eras with a few originals thrown into the mix. Currently, I play solo under my own name, and in The Mugs; a blues folk trio with guitar, mandolin and harmonica. Occasionally I sing in a folk harmony duo called the Sugar Daddies but mainly I'm out doing a hundred plus solo guitar and song performances a year. I've also done some side projects in a Replacements cover band and an Eagles cover band. Visit my website to hear musical samples.

Cooper has been a flexible, dedicated, and effective teacher for my son! My son is sometimes wiggly and doesn't always listen like many 10 year olds, but Cooper was able to keep him engaged and challenge him to keep working on his skills. My son always returned from his lesson excited about what he was learning and telling me how he wanted to practice so he could be as good as Cooper. And he has practiced! Cooper's rates are very reasonable. The only suggestion I have for improvement is perhaps a regular monthly time when parents join the lesson for the last 10 minutes and get a showcase and explanation of what Cooper is teaching and my son is doing. Because I don't play the guitar, I don't always know how to encourage or direct my son in his practice times and I also don't know exactly what to praise him for when he does it!

Hey, gang. My name is Cole Kelly, and I've been playing guitar for over 10 years now. I've played in numerous bands, from styles like punk to country and blues to pop. I went to school for audio production and music recording, and I DJ birthdays, car shows, weddings, and other events. I know several instruments, including six-string guitar, bass, mandolin, ukulele, and a little bit of banjo. I look forward to helping others learn the fun and the magic behind playing a musical instrument.
