Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: You'll be hard pressed to find anyone who does what I do. Most will over charge for their time, or just not help. I will do even the smallest of jobs, in fact those are my specialties. The fact I'm a trained Union Carpenter is an even greater reason someone should hire me, I've seen just about everything, or at least know someone that has seen more interesting work than myself. I love building anything with my hands, and I love helping someone achieve something for their house that just sets their mind at ease. Lately I've enjoyed working with clients to come up with creative solutions to common issues, I.E. shelves in awkward corners, or closet systems for closets thought too small to do anything else with.

I called in David to replace the sprayer in my kitchen sink. He showed up on time and got to work right away. After working on it for a few minutes he informed me that the faucet was not in the greatest of conditions. he offered to go to Lowe's with me to find the correct replacement. We got one and he stayed late to finish the job. The job was supposed to take 15 - 20 minutes, but David, being a true professional, stayed back for as long as it took to get the job done. I am very happy with his work and look forward to having him do more in the future.

I am a wildlife rehabilitator and was looking for help to convert a potting shed into space for wildlife. David was kind enough to offer his help and do the build voluntarily. He was very punctual, planned ahead, and was meticulous about his work. He built a wall and installed 2 doors to make the area a functional rehab space. I am very pleased with the work David does and will surely use him again.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We usually end up talking on the phone, and then I meet the client in person at the location of the job to see it in person and talk with them about what exactly they expect, and how I can help meet that. Usually I end up scheduling the work right then and there.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

See some of their work. Keep in mind some clients don't want pictures taken, and generally the professional is only going to show the outstanding stuff anyways. But even with that you can see skill and potential from just a few pictures even. But talking with the contractor and being comfortable with the person is probably the most important. In home repair work, i'm going to be in your home, probably with you there, so if you don't like the way I present myself at the initial meeting, it could be not very comfortable at each successive visit.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

There are more new materials and tools on the market everyday than one person can keep up with. No one trades person can actually know it all about everything, but a skilled person can apply their previous knowledge and learn about it fast. So don't be upset if your contractor doesn't know what you're talking about at first, if he's good, he'll figure it out and get what you want.
