Figure out if the person enjoys his work. If not, it is likely he'll overcharge and do a poor job. If he does, he will take pride in it and give a fair price.

I want everyone to know that I spent one year in plumbing school, one year in HVAC school and one year in electrical school because I love what I do. I taught myself framing and drywall while building a contemporary art gallery called Wade Wilson Art in Santa Fe.
