"I booked an appointment with Rose's Massage in Nampa about a month ago. I was a little reluctant since I live in Boise but it was well worth the drive. She customizes her pressure around your needs. Rose is very intuitive, professional, has great hands and takes the time to know your needs and communicates well. Her prices are competive with other massage therapist. I have been back a second time and highly recommend her to anyone who is wanting an amazing massage therapist. I appreciate her dedication to excellence and will continue to go to Rose for my massage needs."

"I had been dealing with sciatica for over three years. I tried chiropractic care and acupuncture several times. In just one visit with Mark I felt 95% better. Within a week, I was totally pain free! Later, I tried two months of PT for a rotator cuff injury. I was kicking myself for not thinking of Mark earlier as I would've saved myself a lot of money. Once I remembered Mark and my past experience I gave him a call. Within two visits my injury was a thing of the past. I now call Mark first before visiting my doctor. I've never been disappointed. I HIGHLY recommend Mark for all your physical ailments. I totally believe that these visits are adding pain free years to my life. It also enables me to roll around on the floor with my adorable two-year-old grandson!"

"Michelle is an incredibly gifted massage therapist/energy healer. I was recently in a car accident and got whiplash, I went to Michelle for a massage and she was able to completely loosen my back and remove the knots. This was the best massage I have ever had. If you want someone who understands how to heal the body on a physical, spiritual and emotional level go see Michelle! 😊"

"Ellen is amazing. I can not say enough great things about rossiter. After going to many doctors (5) chiropractors (4) physical therapists (4) massage therapists I can't even count over (10) accuputure 20+ times and a nerosurgeon I found rossiter. For over a year after 2 MRI's and all the people I saw. I was in pain. A 10+ everyday. I couldn't walk without assistance. I needed a service. dog. I was miserable. When I first saw Ellen I told her my story of severe back pain. She worked on me as my dog watched. When she was finished my dog came to my side to do her job. With one hand on Bella (dog) and the other on the couch I braced my self to get up. I was in complete shock when I needed no assistance. For the first time in over a year I got up on my own. My back pain was gone. It lasted for some time. Now I still have a little pain but my 10+ is more like a 5-6 for me that is awesome. I no longer take pain meds and, most days I'm good. I still see Ellen 3-6 times a month due to my issues but, like I said I can now walk without assistance. Thank you Ellen for all you do. You are amazing. Laura Hart "

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
