What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet our customers for a free consultation before hiring giving us a chance to get to know one another, and giving me a chance to understand their individual desires for their ceremony/event. We meet individually if they are in need of only one of our services (i.e. officiant or wedding/event planner). Once hired we are at your service and keep in contact via phone or email. Most important to know is that we listen.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Officiant Phil went to the Jesus Christ Light and Power House Bible School and then to Azusa Pacific University where he received his BA in Religion (Bible and Biblical theology). He has worked with many churches and heads up Oil and Wine Ministries in Boise, ID. He has officiated many weddings in Idaho, California, and Nevada.
Bettina received her wedding and event certification from Penn Foster. In addition she organized and coordinated many weddings prior to her training since 2000, and many more since her graduation and the opening of Agape Ceremonies and Events.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
Wedding and Event planning begins at $650. Services are customizable. Decorating rentals are available.
Officiant services begin at $75 for an elopement ceremony. Wedding ceremonies and rehearsals range between $150 and $250.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Having been in Christian Ministry since 1973 I officiated weddings and my wife, Bettina, was always involved in, and deeply enjoyed, the planning and coordinating of these weddings. We have enjoyed this aspect of the ministry so much that Bettina began Agape Ceremonies and Events and went into business. We love our work, and the joy it brings our clientele.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Each wedding is different because each couple is different, and Bettina and I work hard to insure that each ceremony is personalized for them. I one wedding a couple already had a young son who was to become the stepson of the bride. I (Phil) wrote out vows for the stepson and the bride and pronounced them mother and son, at which point the new son grabbed the bride, giving her the best bear hug ever! A very heart warming moment! The ceremony took less than 20 minutes, but will be well remembered 20 years from now!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Seek an officiant who has the same commitment to marriage as you have. Seek a wedding/event planner who gets personally involved with your desires and seeks to save you money in so doing. Don't plan and coordinate on your own! You won't save money and your stress level will greatly interfere with the enjoyment of your big day!
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
In both our officiating and planning/coordinating capacities we recognize that this is YOUR time, not ours. Therefore we customize and personalize your vows, your ceremony/event, your reception to YOUR desires. This will be a lasting memory and we want that memory to reflect you and all you've wished for!
