I hired Kathryn in June of this year because my approach to fitness was not working for me. My hope was to learn new ways to increase my cardio exercises, eat less and feel better. A combination that I now realize is insane! Kathryn literally changed my view on fitness and nutrition and I have never felt better!! Kathryn is an educator. From nutrition, to the how and why's of weight lifting, Kathryn has a wealth of knowledge that she wants to share with you. She is fully present while you are with her. She pays close attention to your form and is tough when she needs to be to get you the results that you are looking for. If you are looking for a life changing experience, hire Kathryn. Do what she tells you and you will get results. She trains in a private gym that is spacious and outfitted with everything needed to help you meet your goals. I'm very happy with the training services I've received with Kathryn so far. I've had two sessions and she's given me homework to do. I'm seeing some gains in my strength and coordination already, and it's only the end of the first week. I highly recommend her. She's a great balance between firm and patient. - What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am NASM certified. That stands for National Academy of Sports Medicine. It is the hardest certification to get and takes the longest. In fact, most trainers get an easier and cheaper certification. I choose to go with the best! The industrys first comprehensive training system based on scientific, evidence-based research, NASMs exclusive Optimum Performance Training (OPT) model is the gold standard when it comes to personal training. Focusing on integrated solutions for every fitness level, OPT is the NASM difference and it is used to develop ALL of NASMs Certified Personal Trainer Certification and Specializations. NASMs model has been extremely successful in helping clients reduce their body fat, increase lean muscle mass and strength, and improve performance and overall health.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?It naturally happened. I was determined to lose the 50 pounds I gained during my last pregnancy. People noticed my results and started asking me what I had done and how I did it. I gave people advice and showed them exercises. So getting certified was a no brainer! Best decision I ever made was becoming a Certified Personal Trainer.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?I would look for a personal trainer that looks the part. You want a trainer that practices what they preach. Also, meet a few different ones. It's kind of like dating. You need to find one that fits your personality. But make sure you find one that won't let you make excuses and will take your training seriously! I've seen many trainers act like a counting machine or even worse... look at their cell phone while their clients are training. UNEXCUSABLE! I am fully invested in my clients and will coach and them through their workouts to the last rep! I also think that form and technique is extremely important. I won't let my clients get injured by doing a lunge incorrectly, squat incorrectly, etc.
