The service of, Mandarin Lessons, that I received from Mr. Zhang were outstanding! I rate him with 100 golden stars because of the quality of Yanming tutoring. He always seems to know when to adapt his teachings so I can process the information in a way that I can comprehend. I find that helpful because he will go back to basic teachings for me to understanding before he moves on to challenging materials. He patiently listen to my pronunciation and quickly identify my weaknesses in pronouncing second tones. When I speak incorrectly, he do not sign or make me feel incompetent, but encourage me to try again. This assures me that he want his students to exceed standard spoken Mandarin and press on to prefect speaking Mandarin. I am pleased with his honesty because he is teaching me accurate oral communication as well as accurate written communication. In conclusion, if you are looking for a tutor that is passionate for teaching, understands what needs to be taught, with outstanding work ethics, with willingness to reflect (why's and how's), organized, motivator, adaptable, considerate, and a good listener........ Then Mr. Zhang is right for you. I am a beginner Mandarin learner as of January 2017. In six month or to a year, I will review again in the Mandarin written language to show and prove I have an outstanding teacher. I thank Jehovah God that I met you online! Thank you, Yanming! It is a honor to have as my professor in Mandarin!

Souradip is a tutor, par excellence! We're grateful to Thumbtack for bringing him into our lives. He's responsive to our children's needs. He's great at explaining and uses various techniques to make sure that they understand the material. Souradip's infinitely patient and never makes them feel less than or embarrassed to ask questions. The children look forward to working with him (now that's a litmus test for a tutor who's doing something right!). They would rather work with him than see a movie! We sought tutoring because our children were struggling and in a matter of a couple of months they're "A" students. That's a testimonial to the caliber of tutor that he is!

James is a great tutor! He really was able to help me with almost anything. If he doesn't know some material that you need help with, he will research and study the material to be able to help you! He is a very smart and patient person. James really helps you understand concepts that may be hard to understand because he is an easy person to understand. Highly recommend having James as your tutor!

Once you get into higher levels of mathematics, it becomes difficult to find anyone competent enough to provide tutoring assistance. In my case, I needed help with Complex Analysis. Happily, I was able to find Giorgi who was willing to help me out remotely. His responses to my requests have always been on-time, so I can make my class deadlines. His comments have always been clear and elucidating. He didn't earn a PhD for nuthin'. I would recommend Giorgi to anyone who needs help with advanced mathematics.

Jason is an excellent teacher and is knowledgeable across all subjects. He was able to immediately improve my son's test scores by giving him quick techniques and simple guides to answering test questions. He improved my son's ACT score enough to get him accepted into an Ivy school.

About

Students that work with me are very confident in their ability after a few sessions. I take my time to explain the material on an individual basis, instead of instantly turning to the textbook's methods.

About

I was the supervisor of the largest community education center (Mullanphy) in St. Louis City (now retired). The youth attending the center were primarily 12 to 20 years old. We had a rule that in order to play basketball, you had to have three tutoring hours a week at the center, even if you were an honor student. I managed to get the honor students to tutor their peers if they were interested. I have been coaching students since 1985, from middle school through high school, as well as taught on the adjunct faculty of three community colleges. I like working with students, although my professional career was in business more than education. I have always got along well with youth and find it a worthwhile activity especially now that I am "semi-retired" and have more freedom with my schedule. You need to be consistent not gullible but respectful. What's easy for one person can be Greek to another. People learn differently, and the key is to find the key to each individual.

About

Over the course of my experience I have worked with children with learning challenges, improved students’ skill and confidence in Math, taught high school students test strategies and reviewed content to prepare them for the ACT, taught a summer course in Latin reading enrichment, and am currently teaching a summer Algebra prep course. I tutored for 2 1/2 years with Tutor Doctor and then independently for 1 1/2+ years after the franchise dissolved. I have raised students ACT scores from 1-3 points overall, and up to 5 points on individual sections. I have improved students' grades in geometry and algebra, and increased a student's confidence and scores in 7th grade math. (When I started tutoring her she had melt-downs at almost every session. Now she has been getting B's and approaching her homework with a more positive attitude.) I also helped a student improve his study habits for Biology and raise his grade from failing to a B. I have also worked with an ADHD student to help him keep up in a college prep high school setting. As well as tutoring high school subjects, I also teach piano performance.
