Keith did an outstanding job wiring my garage, removing unnecessary wiring through out my basement and installing a switch on my vanity. He is very professional. He also helped me trouble shoot plumbing and other items I had in question pertaining to my fist house and as soon as he completes my stove hook up I am going to give him 5 stars, recommend and use him in the future.

During an inside inspection, People's gas found 2 coupled flex pipes connected to our dryer and decided to disconnect our dryer and cap the connection (even though there was no gas leak). This left my spouse and I going to the laundromat for about a month and a half. I tried to hire a plumber through Westward, our condo management company, and that never panned out. so decided to look elsewhere for a solution. I signed up for Thumbtack and set up my project. Salvo with ISA Euro Pro Construction responded within an hour of my posting, we communicated about a time to come out, and they met me at my condo the next day. We'd received quotes to open the wall and that would have been a lot of time, materials + drywall and a lot of labor time. Salvo and Vito came up with a very nice and innovative solution to extend the pipe downward on the wall behind the washer and then installed a 5 foot flex pipe across to the dryer. The install looks great and I'm very happy with the final product. I am extremely satisfied with their solution, their professionalism, and the price; I highly recommend ISA Euro Pro Construction.

Chano and his crew did a fantastic job -- they removed a satellite dish, filled and painted some woodpecker damage to my siding, repaired rotten trim on an exterior door, and did some inside drywall/trim repair. I would effeminately hire them again. Truly A+ work.

Ben did an excellent job with installation of our closet rods and mounting of our 60" TV. I had initially installed the closet rods myself; however, after the rods falling and tearing out drywall I knew I needed to hire some professional help. Ben was able to add me to his schedule the next day, arrived on time, quickly installed the closet rods and mounted the TV, and was completely professional. His prices are unbeatable ($35)!!!! I won't hesitate to hire him again for any future home improvement services.

We have had Ron do several small projects in our home: install a bathroom vanity and faucets; patching a hole in our drywall. All projects were done professionally and at a very reasonable price. We have other projects that we will ask his help with in the future.

Mario was outstanding. We had terrible popcorn on our walls and on our ceiling. Many others in this trade only know dry wall and that is what they will tell you to do; replace the plaster with drywall or some variation of that. If you don't want to replace your walls and work with plaster, it is hard to find someone to do a proper job. Mario is exactly that guy and made our walls look like "glass". They are perfect! I was talking to a a visitor the other day describing working with Mario - "if it was 500 years ago he would be a sculptor in Italy, but in the modern age he is an artist with plaster". I'll look forward to future projects that I get to use him on again.

V1 painting’s team was punctual, reasonably priced, professional, friendly, flexible to our changing plans/vision and did a spectacular job fixing the horrible work a previous contractor had done. The problems/projects we had: •Crooked corners/ imperfect wall corners •Bumpy mudding •20+ Feet of Exposed Plaster wiring over exposed beam •Improperly installed drywall •Missing door trim that another contractor removed and accidentally disposed of They fixed every one of these problems and then did a gorgeous paint job to finish. They meticulously cleared away the area above our beams, perfected all of our corners, installed drywall, and muffed perfectly. I will hire this team every single time I have any similar needs. MOMS: I was comfortable having these gentlemen in my home with me and my kids during the day. They played appropriate music and were kind but still professional with my kids. They even helped me catch my dog when it got out of the front door as they were working. Will noticed that our electrician had left a few hot wires exposed and covered them to protect my kids from injury. This team is a class act and I am thrilled to submit a review for them and hope they have great success. Hire them.

I hired Kosterna Construction to do various drywall projects, including building the framing and insulating the walls. They also put in support beams where needed, built a sub floor for tile in the kitchen, installed an exterior door with frame, built frames/molding around windows, evened out a sloping floor/ ceiling. I was able to buy my own materials and paid them for the labor. They are very experienced in all new construction and remodeling. Very nice, reliable, easy to work with. I thought they did great work for a fair price and plan on hiring them for future projects! attached are some photos

Ed did an excellent job. I love my kitchen remodel. I get so many compliments on my new backsplash. He had cabinets, dishwasher and counter tops installed quickly. Plus installed a new window, ceiling fan and doors. He even did some minor upgrades at no cost, like changing my outlets. Was veryour friendly and efficient. Already have plans for him to do more work, backsplash in my bathroom and flooring in basement.

I hired Mark to complete the majority of a bathroom remodel. I hired his team to install drywall, mud and tape the drywall. I also had him tile the shower and the floor. Mark also did the shower plumbing, installed a new tub, fixed a bad tub drain, hung two doors, installed casing and framed a window. Mark's price was reasonable. He was not the cheapest, nor the most expensive. But his communication led me to hiring him. The job was expected to take 5 days, however he ended up finishing on a Saturday. He is honest, very giving with advice and does good work. He is a jack of all trades and if I ever need a hand, I now have contractor I can trust. I recommend him to my friends if they need some work done.

It went well. Tudor was very flexible with work hours and i needed my difficult drywall and paint project in the master bedroom done quick. He started on a Saturday and rapped it up on Wednesday. Eventhough there were several obstacles he stuck with his original quote! I will be using him again.

Otis responded quickly to my request for service. He arrived on time, assessed the work to be done, and quoted a fair price. He completed the work and I am pleased with the quality of the work performed. I will definitely contact this contractor in the future and recommend him highly without reservation and without hesitation!

I called Kevin in to work on my kitchen drywall which was a bit of a mess. Half of the walls were new drywall and the other half was compiled of the original plaster. I thought this was be an impossible job, but Kevin made the walls look great and you cant even tell where the seams are between the two materials. What's better, is the Kevin was easily the most responsive contractor I have ever worked with. Very flexible to accommodate our schedule, polite and communicative and made sure we knew where he was at each step of the project. Great experience and I will have him back to work on other projects without a doubt!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

  • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
  • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

  • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
  • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
  • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
