I would recommend Brian to everyone. He has very reasonable rates, came right on time when he said he would, called first as I had asked him to, and did a great job with everything I needed done. And he did everything quick and safely. No damage to walls or furniture which is especially important to me since I rent. Very nice guy too. Thanks Brian!
Mike has done a wonderful job putting together 3 pieces of IKEA furniture in our new apartment, one of which had 8 drawers and a LOT of pieces. He even came back a second time, after we initially didn't allocate enough time for the job, and has offered to come back to help with some electrical in the new place. Highly recommend working with Mike!
Jacek was a godsend in the midst of my first home buying experience and major renovation project.
I originally engaged Jacek to perform some wood restoration work on some wooden beams that run across ceiling of my living room. These pine beams were original from when the home was built in 1889 so I wanted a wood restoration specialist with experience in restoring older homes. Jacek fit this mold.
The scope was quickly expanded upon seeing the quality of Jacek's work and the passion he had for painting, home renovation and also design work.
I ended up having Jacek paint and repair the drywall in nearly every room in the new home I purchased. While time consuming, his attention to detail and insistence that each crack, imperfection or break in the drywall be repaired prior to painting paid HUGE dividends as the walls are now closer to the quality of a new construction home vs. a +125 year old house.
Jacek was also able to help me source a reputable carpenter and drywaller (both of which did an outstanding job) for a fraction of the cost of what general contractors / carpenters from Angie's List were trying to charge.
Jacek's price was also extremely reasonable in a world where many contractors are only focused on the bottom line and quality of work is an afterthought. While we did go over budget from the original estimate, the overages I paid to Jacek were WELL WORTH IT as he made sure the work was done properly before checking out and stayed a couple extra days to finish the last 5-10% of the work.
Outstanding job Jacek.
I'm also planning to post some before and after pics of Jacek's work in my West Town Home on the Unique Painting and Decorating Studio Facebook website (he needs more pictures of his work).
I could not be happier with the end result of the furniture refinishing project Don Burch did for me. At stake was a 100-year-old bed that could not be replaced. Don worked miracles in repairing extensive damage to the footrail, creating new pieces of woodwork and finishing that matched the original so perfectly, not even the original craftsman could be able to tell the difference! I found Don to be reliable, professional, and a true artist at what he does. We were so pleased with the results that we are working with Don on another project in the near future.
I contracted Fay Furniture to refurbish and reupholster an antique rocking chair that has belonged to my family for four generations. The woodwork had degraded over time, while the upholstering had been shredded by our cats. Bill and his son quickly rehabilitated the wood and provided numerous samples from which to chose the new upholstery. When we were unable to find the perfect match from the original selection, they promptly provided alternatives until we found exactly what we were looking for. Their service was efficient and courteous, and the rocking chair looks excellent in our living room. We have recommended Fay Furniture to our family and friends already, and will continue to do so in the future.
Ken has helped me with a couple of small projects at a furniture store that I manage in Evanston. He did a very nice job trimming the interior and exterior of our large plate glass windows. He was thoughtful about which finishes to use and gave us tips about how to maintain the exterior trim. Another time he responded right away, on a weekend in January, when I had an emergency with a front door that would not close. The stainless steel door needed to be cut down so that it would close over the new tile floor we had just installed. Both jobs were done well, on time, fair pricing.
The technician from Chicago Furniture Repair cleaned a stain on my leather chair - it looked brand new after . The guy did a good job and was friendly, gave me some good advice about furniture as well. Would be happy to have him back.
