Emil was prompt and flexible in responding to a very last-minute request I had for a videographer for our wedding. People seemed to like his presence, and can't wait to see the footage! Price was very reasonable compared to many other companies that market themselves as videographers for weddings.

I had been working with Harry to prepare for filming our wedding this Friday. We set up a meeting three days before the wedding date at which he said we no longer need a contract and demanded the entire payment for the project up front. This was the first time I had heard of this and I was thrown off by how it came out of the blue. Nowhere in his e-mails, website, contract, or in any of our conversation did it come up that he requires payment up front. I told him I was willing to give half and he told me that "That's not how I do buisness." He said that people usually pay him when he shows up to do the job. I agreed and said I would pay him half and how and half the day of the job. He said "that's not how I do business." He said he was sure I could find someone else to work with and got up and walked out of the restaurant. I was stunned! He has not returned any of my calls, e-mails, or texts. He has the right to ask for whatever terms he wants, but he needs to make that clear up front or put it in the contract, not drop it into a conversation three day before the wedding and then walk out when I question him. It was especially weird in that it came right after telling me he doesn't need a contract. It felt very off to me. I was not comfortable paying him in full under the circumstances and I felt like I was being railroaded into a last-minute bait and switch. He was unwilling to talk about it, negotiate, or show any sign of professionalism or care. He walked out as soon as he didn't get his way. I am angry that I am three days out from my wedding and I have no videographer! I did not see this coming!

We absolutely love our wedding video. They did such a good job putting it all together. If we had one complaint, it would be that we specifically asked them to not interview any of our guests or make us do anything super corny, but they did. We mentioned it more than once, in fact. In the end, while we were disappointed that some of our guests were asked to say a few words on camera, the video in its entirety made up for it. It didn't take away from the quality like we thought it would and we could have asked them to take those parts out, but we left them in.

Kevin was great to work with and gave us a beautiful wedding video that perfectly captured the highlights of our wedding. Kevin was timely on the day of the wedding and responsive to all my questions and concerns leading up to the day. We could not have asked for anything better. Great job!!

We had decided that we didn't need a videographer for our wedding (rookie mistake...) and then decided that we did with about three weeks to spare. We loved Ben's work and upon contacting him, it just so happened that he had a cancellation and was available for our big day. Needless to say, we could not have been more pleased. Ben was very responsive, open to all our ideas, and genuinely cared about what we wanted out of our videographer. On the day of, he was extremely flexible and made everyone involved feel at ease throughout the process, as having cameras all over the place can be kind of overwhelming. The final product was just what we wanted and I'm sure that we will watch the footage for anniversaries to come. Overall, a great experience. Thanks, Ben!

We are still waiting for our video after the promised six weeks with no response from eugene. We will update this review if we hear from him, but so far we are not impressed and upset for having nothing in our possession after payment, our wedding, and the promised sic weeks after.

My wife and I had the pleasure of having Stuart as our videographer for our wedding. The video could not have turned out better. He captures every great moment and it really makes you feel like you are there living it all over again. The quality and functionality are both fantastic as well. We can't thank Stuart enough for giving us something that will help us relive our special day forever!

Drake did an awesome job videotaping my daughter's wedding ceremony last weekend. He actually arrived almost an hour early to tape everyone arriving at the church, and stayed late to tape family and wedding party photos being taken. We now have priceless memories! We will highly recommend Drake to everyone we know who is looking for a professional, reliable and reasonably priced videographer. Thank you again, Drake!

I cannot say enough good things about Tom and Blink of an Eye Productions. He originally did my sister's wedding video in 2009--a video we STILL watch time and time again at family gatherings. He did such a great job that I knew I'd want him to do my own wedding video (even 6 years later)! For starters, Tom is an absolute professional! He was on time; prepared; well-dressed (my bridesmaids were swooning over him!); and so accommodating. By far one of my best vendors! He was perfect the day of my wedding, as was his other cinematographer (TIP: Hire the 2nd cinematographer for the day so both Bride/Groom can have constant video coverage). I swear he’s like a ninja because he would blend in with the crowd and always maintain the perfect distance to allow us to experience our special wedding moments, while being able to capture it all the same. Most of the time I forgot he was even there. He also chose to stay and film my wedding at least an hour later than we agreed because he wanted to make sure he had everything he needed to guarantee our satisfaction. That detail alone would make me choose Tom over every other videographer. It’s simple, he CARES about his clients and their happiness. He isn’t there to just get some shots, leave, and make a stock video of your wedding. He’s an artist who is constantly inspired by his surroundings and wants to be sure he has everything he needs to deliver a product that is tailor made to each Bride and Groom. What more could you ask for?? Not only was Tom great to work with on the day of our wedding, but he was wonderful both pre and post wedding. He is super on top of things and has great communication with the client. And the end product (our wedding video) was nothing short of spectacular. I have NO idea how he took our 10+ hour day and edited it so beautifully. He has an amazing talent for detail and edits together your best moments to create a seamless story that you want to watch again and again. He captured moments that I didn’t even know existed. As a person in the film industry, I have a very high bar for quality of film. Tom surpassed my expectations and delivered my wedding in an art form that I can forever cherish. I am beyond grateful for all of his efforts. Because of him, I have the great pleasure of being able to relive the happiest day of my life anytime I please. Do yourself a favor and hire Tom to capture your wedding day! I guarantee he will end up being one of your favorite vendors, too!

We recently married and were fortunate to have Karen and Larry videotape and edit our wedding. Not only are they nice people, they are also very talented videographers. They worked well with the wedding coordinator, photographers, DJ, the wedding party and the guests. They worked ALL day and everyone was impressed with their laid back style and professionalism. Although we wanted to see the video as soon as possible, Karen and Larry assured us that it would be better to wait until after they did the majority of the editing. They were right and the video is something special that we will enjoy and pass on to our children and grandchildren to enjoy. We cannot thank them enough for this beautiful wedding video!

They are the absolute best! We had originally hired a videographer for our daughter's wedding through a third-party that arranged it (one of their friends I assume), and that person cancelled a few days before asking for more money to do it (three times the original price) as they said they had another job that paid more! We didn't reserve a year in advance to get a bait and switch, so we said no and called a dozen companies. Erin at vidart answered, said they could do it last minute to replace the person we originally hired, and then not one, but two videographers showed up an hour before they were supposed to be there, talked with everyone about the shots they wanted, and they just did a wonderful job. They also included a free virtual reality camera we were able to set up for vows, dances, and so on, it was tiny on a camera thing but no one even realized it was there, but my son-in-law is now showing everyone that couldn't make the wedding the wedding through some thing he uses with his phone but it is very cool as when you put it on, it is like you are actually there, looking around the room, and my daughter was so happy about it as it recorded the night as a living memory! The wedding turned out perfect too, and thank you vidart for showing up at the last minute to replace the person we hired. You did a great job and although I don't have any more daughters getting married, will recommend you to friends that do. Thanks again!

Steve did an amazing job at our wedding May 2015! From the very start to the end of the process he was professional, punctual, and genuine. We honestly could not have asked for a better experience. It is hard to put something so special, like your wedding, in the hands of someone else to capture but I highly recommend Steve! We have a video that we can now cherish for a lifetime and recap on the most important day of our lives! Thank you again Steve for going above and beyond!!!! Chelsea and Jeremy

I loved working with sergio... every step of the way he was very helpful, open to my ideas and shared his ideas as well. He was always available, and made it super easy to communicate with him via text and/or a phone call. Not once did he shut down any of my ideas or requests, he made it all happen just as I wanted, and even added an extra touch of magic. I used him for my wedding in November. I receive my pictures and absolutely love them! Would recommend him to anyone, and would use him again!

Caponeyboy Productions is incredible! We hired them to be the videographer for our wedding in July 2017 and they did an outstanding job from beginning to end. Our main point of contact, Anthony, was awesome! He is extremely creative, and was super friendly and accommodating to all of our needs. The day of the wedding, he brought an assistant videographer, and together, they captured all of our special moments and made us feel super comfortable in front of the camera. We just received our first cut of the highlight video and we were completely impressed. Their attention to detail was incredible and we were thrilled that they captured the essence of our day. They definitely went above and beyond and were very affordable. I HIGHLY recommend them for your wedding or video needs :) Angela K. 8/14/17

Ben was a fantastic videographer. He showed up on time, was very professional and stayed throughout the whole wedding to capture even the late night footage, which was totally unnecessary but very much appreciated. He is flexible and accommodating unlike others that i have worked with. We received our video while on our honeymoon and it was spectacular. He put a lot of time, effort and creativity into it and made it extra special for us. Thank you for capturing our magical day and one we will always be reminded of through the beautiful footage. Highly recommended!!!!!

Jeron and Tony were absolutely exceptional at my brother's wedding! Jeron, the photographer, captured every beautiful moment whether it was purposely posed for or just a genuine moment! Tony, the videographer, did an amazing job with the video! My entire family gathered around as we watched the video for the first time and we all laughed and cried at certain moments of the video! The quality of work from this dynamic duo couldn't have been any better! The ability to be so professional yet feel like an old friend was also a plus! We were highly pleased and highly recommend them if you're looking to capture a special moment/occasion in the near future! You will not be disappointed!!

About

I'm a professional wedding videographer. The importance of having your wedding and reception captured is that "you can possibly remember all that was said during your wedding ceremony and all your special toasts that were given to you during your wedding reception.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
