We used Mark Solock as our wedding officiant and couldn’t have been happier with the job he did.  We are a multicultural and multi-religious family who needed an officiant who understood our needs and was able to unify our ceremony. (BTW not easy to find) Mark was engaging and had a great pace to the ceremony.   Our schedules are ridiculous, and Mark was an excellent communicator who made sure we understood the time lines and what all was needed to make the event amazing! He even provided us with templates and the "what to do after" guidelines as well! Mark incorporated the story of us as a couple based on the meetings we had prior to the ceremony.  We had several compliments about the job he did and would recommend him highly for other couples looking for an officiant of their own.   Wonderful job Mark!

Jocelyn was fantastic! She was very friendly, easy to reach, and helped me every step of the way. I had a themed wedding and Jocelyn did everything perfect with ceremony to match my theme. She even gave me more ideas to use with the themed ceremony to make it extra special. I couldn't ask for better as she went above my expectations! I would recommend her to anybody. Thank you Jocelyn.

Where can I start? I could not have asked for a better night. Rick and Dance Pro DJ's made our whole wedding a blast and a night to remember. Starting from the "hand holding" Rick did with the music for our wedding cerony and reception all the way down to the photo booth. His way to keep the dance floor entertained all night was great. He catered to all the guests Old to young and all in between. Also the booth was so nice. They had an attendant there to assist all the guests and he was so helpful especially with the little kids. The photo strips were very clear and very professional and the props were tons of fun. Rick and Dance Pro DJ's get an A+ in making our wedding surely a night to remember. Thank you again. Jackie

I worked with Emil for our wedding and from our first consultation, my now husband and I knew we made a great decision! We took our engagement photos with Emil and we were so excited because if this was the sneak peek to what our wedding photos would be like, then we knew our photos were going to be just beautiful! On our wedding day Emil was so kind and patient! You could tell he has a true eye for vision because he would watch the sun to wait until it was in the perfect spot for our perfect shot!!! Well I couldn't believe just a few short weeks later, a little package in the mail and with all of our wedding photos!!!! They are more than we could imagine and they came out so beautifully! Choose visual etiquette! Seriously... Emil captured more than photos, he captured the moments of love and joy and help make them live on forever!!!!

We were truly happy with the services that Keicy Photobooth Rental provided on our wedding day. We hired them for our wedding and all wedding guests could not stop raving about how great they were. They were so helpful and made our wedding memorable. They also included a photo album where our guests could leave us notes and a USB that had all the pictures from that night. We could not thank them enough and would recommend them to anyone looking to photobooth services. We loved their custom design for our wedding also! They were both professional and affordable. Karen was always responsive when we messaged her with questions. We can't to hire you again for another event. Thank you so much!!!

Dr. David McFadden was fantastic. He was able to step in last minute when our original officiant was hospitalized. He was able to work with our previous ceremony layouts that we worked through. He was prompt and handled everything from getting to know us, rehearsal and a beautiful ceremony. I would highly recommend him for your wedding. He truly does what you want. Thanks so much David. We had Henry and his beautiful fiancé DJ my son and daughter-in-laws wedding last Friday and I was over-the-top impressed with the service we received. From their set-up to the music and lighting, everything was diffidently "a touch of class"!! Henry was johnny-on-the-spot making sure the ceremony, wedding party intro, first dance, dad/daughter, mom/son dances, etc, EVERYTHING ran smoothly! Even things I did not think of, they did and took care of it. The music was everything we wanted and even when there was a lull, Henry corrected it and got the dance floor packed again! Thank you soon much for making my son's wedding a huge success! As someone was leaving they told me that you can tell a wedding/party was great by the amount of people that stay till the very end. I'm excited to say we had about 70% still with us at midnight! Success in my book! Thanks again!!

Big hit at the wedding. People are still telling us how much they enjoyed the photo booth. We had an album that people could paste in one of their photo strips and write a message to the bride and groom. The attendant was very helpful with this.

We first met Gonzo back in 2011 when he was the DJ for my cousins wedding. He did such an amazing job and we had a blast because of all of the different music he played. When my now husband and I got engaged, we immediately thought of DJ Gonzo. He did an absolutely FABULOUS job at our wedding. He played all of the music we wanted from the top hits of English music, to the most fun Spanish music, and even threw in some Greek music to honor my husband's heritage. Our family and friends raved how much fun they had dancing the night away and that this was the best music that they've heard at a wedding in a long time. Gonzo was very professional from the moment we met him until the day of the wedding. He also provided a large screen for our family and friends to view a slide show that we compiled. I highly recommend Gonzo for any events you may have!

When searching for a florist for my wedding I was getting what I thought were really absurd prices. I was right. I found Becky through Thumbtack that my coworker had recommended awhile ago. I liked that she gave me economical choices. Becky did a fantastic job on my bouquet, the bridesmaid's, centerpieces and corsages!! I had showed her a few pictures I liked from Pinterest - garden roses, tulips, and calla lilies. The flowers were beautiful, fresh, and came out better than I imagined. I am very happy I found Becky. She was helpful and patient and charged a reasonable price. I highly recommend working with Becky!

As a wedding planner it so important to work with vendors who are talented, reliable, and responsive in the weeks leading up to the wedding. It doesnt hurt when they are also a blast to work with for 12+ hours. Ryan was all of these things & someone I will be recommending to future couples! His work is gorgeous, fun & unique! Highly recommend!

We cannot say enough great things about Heidi and highly recommend her wedding services to any other couples! Heidi served as our wedding coordinator in September 2017 and she was worth her weight in gold so that we could have a relaxing and elegant wedding. Thanks to Heidi we were able to truly enjoy our time with all of our guests many of whom had traveled from Europe and across the US to be with us. On the day of the wedding Heidi did an incredible and efficient job running our early morning rehearsal which immediately put everyone participating in the ceremony at ease. She and her two assistants were then present at our venue throughout the day coordinating the vendors as they arrived, setting up decor, and bringing us our bouquets for photos. She even sent me a few photos of the cake and decor as sneak peeks as we were out and about all day with our wedding party. Once we arrived at the venue everything looked absolutely perfect and she even had water set up for the wedding party as we got ready to walk down the aisle (she also had water, snacks, pain killers and whatever else anyone needed!). During the evening wedding Heidi kept everything to schedule and moved the guests seamlessly throughout the venue from the ceremony to the cocktail hour to dinner to dancing. She worked closely with the photographer, caterer, and musicians to make sure everything went to plan. If anything went wrong during the day or evening we did not know about it! At the end of the wedding she and her two assistants packed up all our boxes of decor/cake/leftover alcohol and took it to our hotel so our family and friends were able to go back to their hotels or to the after party with no worries. In addition to the actual wedding day, Heidi was wonderful from day one. After we decided to work together we met with Heidi early in the summer and showed her around our venue. A couple of weeks before the wedding she also came to our final walkthrough with our caterer. We also had multiple check-in calls the week leading up to the wedding to go through final details. During the week before the wedding she was in touch with all of our vendors to introduce herself and to work out any details which took all vendor management out of our hands. In short, we had a very detailed schedule and notes of how we wanted our wedding to run and look and Heidi executed it with precision and even helped us think of details we might not have thought of ourselves. We had 60 guests and wanted a personal, professional, and elegant Chicago wedding. So many guests commented on how smoothly everything went during the day and how much they enjoyed the pace and look of the evening. We were a very happy bride and groom!

Imperial Photobooths did a photobooth at my wedding and I couldn't be happier with their service! Everything was perfect - from the customized backdrop with mine and my husbands name, to the photo strip designs. They were very punctual and when the event was done, they cleared up everything very fast. All my guests got to take a picture home due to the unlimited prints which is an incredible option. Wedding pictures are the best memories a bride & groom and her guests can have, so having a great experience with a photobooth company really means something. I highly recommend them for your next special occasion!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

  • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
  • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
  • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
  • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
