Charles is so talented musically &proficient w/ multiple instruments. He truly has a desire to teach kids and get/keep them interested in music. I feel he takes an individualized approach to meet each child’s needs and interests. He is professional, fun, “cool”, technologically inclined, which I think is attractive to young learners. We are very lucky to have him as our teacher! He is teaching my son piano and dabbling with the guitar. I recommend him for young and adult lessons.Mar 19, 2020

I cannot say enough about Charles. He has been giving my son guitar and voice lessons for the last few months, and I am so impressed with Charles. Beyond his own talents, He has a positive attitude and a natural way with teens. Gifted guy! Two thumbs up!!!Mar 19, 2020

We’ve seen awesome progression as our son has gone from knowing absolutely nothing to being able to play the chords of one of his favorite songs. Charles has a lot of fun learning tricks and is great at engaging my son in each lesson.Mar 19, 2020
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? If you'd like to schedule and pay for more than one lesson at a time (strongly recommended), there are discounts available! Check the pricing info for specifics.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First thing's first; what are your musical dreams? Lessons always begin with a statement of goals and aspirations. They're vastly different for everybody and greatly affect the course and tone of our lessons. Are you just looking for a hobby or activity? Are you hoping to someday (sooner than later) sell out arenas or concert halls? Stating your goals is the most important first step when beginning to play or study any element of music and I'm always so excited to help you find these goals or hear about existing dreams.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am a musician of 25 years, beginning on piano as a toddler and subsequently adding instruments as I grew up. I've played drums & percussion for 20 years, guitar & bass for 15 years, and have formally been a vocalist for roughly the same amount of time. In my life & lengthy, growing career, I've experienced so many aspects of music and studied a remarkably wide range of styles, genres, and techniques. Throughout middle school, high school, and early college years, I studied jazz performance on drum set, exclusively. However, outside of academia, I was immersed in songwriting, performing, guitar playing, and singing in various bands. This continued to develop over the past decade and took me to Nashville, TN where I pursued a songwriting and performing career, garnering a selection of significant major label and publisher interest. Additionally, this gave me highly valuable experience in the recording field; not only as an artist but as a producer and engineer. In recent time, I've been fortunate enough to be hired for a variety of recording session work, as a musician and an engineer, in addition to performance experiences ranging from collaborations with multiple-Grammy-nominated string quartet Spektral to performances across Chicago's premiere clubs and venues. Also, quite importantly, I have many years of cumulative teaching experience with students of ALL ages on all instruments and skills at which I am proficient. I'm always learning, and always will be, but my career has gifted me with a massively diverse set of skills that I feel I must pass on to others in service of the community.
