They did very good job. I have 32 vents at my house. They worked until 9:30 pm to make sure all the vents have been cleaned. They are very professional and know what they are doing. Their office hour is flexible. I have a hard time to find a company which can do the air duct cleaning after 5:00 pm.

Bob was wonderful. He responded to my message promptly and came the same day. He diagnosed and repaired my furnace issue and had the heat back up and running in no time. He is my new go to for heating and air conditioning. I would not hesitate to recommend him and look forward to being able to refer to others to him.

I was informed that Curtis and Max were on their way, and they arrived shortly thereafter. They did a deep clean of my furnace, air ducts, and in unit dryer vent, explaining modifications I can make to make my machines last longer. I would not hesitate to use them in the future!

Sam responded promptly when I put in a service request on Thumbtack. I first called a big name repair service and got no response back after the 'dispatcher' said I would get a call within 45 minutes. I of course read his reviews and all where good. It turned out to be a simple fix, thank goodness. Probably a lot of shady companies would or could have milked the situation. Bottom line, is this is Sams company and you can tell he takes pride in his work. I would recommend Rapid Air Heating & A/C!!!🖒🖒

Melvin inspected and replaced the exhaust duct for my dryer. He added an elbow piece of pipe at the back of the dryer then attached the vent material. He removed and cleaned the outside piece and caulked around it. He also cleaned inside the dryer where the lint filter is located. He was very professional seemed knowledgeable about the appliance. His fee was reasonable. I would use Das Flores again if needed.

I needed to have my air conditioner replaced. The owner of ComfortAire Inc and his technician showed up on time to give me a quote. They were much more thorough than the other company who came to give an estimate. Unlike their competitor, they studied my system before providing quote. Their price was also reasonable. When they did the installation, they were on time. The job took as long as they said it would. The unit is working great. I am really happy because of my significant electric bill savings and how quiet the unit runs. I recommend ComfortAire Heating & Air conditioning Inc. for great, caring service.

I had five estimates when I needed a new furnace and an air conditioner 4 years ago. I am so glad I chose TDH. I liked that I got to talk to the owner who came to my condo. He seemed like the most knowledgeable representative of any of these companies. The 15 year transferable warranty is great. And the customer service is excellent. I purchased Trane and have had absolutely no problems, thus far. I highly recommend this company.

Amazing! I contacted Comfort Measure because my furnace was making a very loud screeching sound. Prior to contacting Comfort Measure, I contacted a larger heating and air company in the area. The other company gave me a 4 hour time window, did nothing to diagnose or fix the problem, and still left me with a bill. John with Comfort Measure arrived at my residence right on time, was very professional, and definitely showed to be more helpful than the other company. I will be recommending Comfort Measure to my friends and family. I will be contacting Comfort Measure for all of my future heating and air needs. I'm very happy that I found them!

Jason provided a high level of service. We had other HVAC/Boiler vendors and all of them recommended a boiler based on the square footage of the unit as opposed to the length of the coils in the house. Jason properly measured and recommended a boiler for us that was not only right for the space, but right for the existing infrastructure. Jason was professional, very knowledgeable, punctual and did the work at a very fair price. Jason also installed a water heater for us the same day. I highly recommend Jason for boiler and water heater installations!

I am not someone who typically sends reviews but I just was totally blown away by the excellent customer service we received today and had to share, We truly had two of the nicest techs come to our house today! We originally asked for dryer vents and duct cleaning, I mentioned to my father that we needed to call and get our heating system done and they mentioned they could do that, too! Sam and Esteban were fantastic and my father said to add he has never met two young men who took the time to explain and were just so pleasant! We appreciate it! Looking for duct cleaning, dry cleaning or A/C and Heating, this is the place to call!

Matt was wonderful to work with and went above and beyond in answering all my questions and ensuring everything was done right- even including helping us replace another household appliance that was past its prime. I thoroughly recommend MCM Heating and Cooling!

When I bought my A/C & furnace I shopped around, so I have seen a lot of what is out there in this area. I choose TLS Heating and Cooling for a reason. Tim was knowledgeable and explained the details in a way that I could understand. He gave some great options for price and followed through with details that came up later. He cares.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is an HVAC system?

The letters in HVAC stand for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. An HVAC system enables you to regulate your home or building’s internal temperature (thermal control) for comfortable living and working. You can bring heat levels down in the summer and up in the winter, keeping your home or office livable year-round. HVAC systems can also help with humidity levels and regulate indoor air quality in a home or office. There are many types of HVAC systems and technologies available.

Many homes have a forced-air HVAC system. Both the heating and the central air conditioning units share a ductwork system where they either push in or pull out warm or cooled air. There are also heating and cooling systems that don’t require ductwork — such as ductless mini-splits — but work on the same principles of heat exchange. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670, with costs varying depending on the work you need done and the equipment you are installing.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

Who fixes furnaces?

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. How much does it cost to get central air?

Prices for central-air HVAC systems will vary. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670 but can run as high as $5,000 or even $12,000 depending on the capacity you need and other factors. Installing central air conditioning requires an entire system that works together to draw hot air out of your home. The system includes an outdoor unit, which houses the condenser and compressor, and the evaporator coils. If you don’t have an existing duct system, ductwork will need to be installed, which will affect labor and material costs. Leaking or damaged ducts will also need to be replaced.
